Board Report - October 2023
Director of Operations
MAINTENANCE / GROUNDS / TRANSPORTATION
- Our guys removed the remaining fencing from the old skate park. We have hired a contractor to resurface and stripe the new parking area. We are excited to have this additional space.
- Exterior doors are remaining a top priority and these are being check in each building weekly or even daily. The maintenance department knows the importance of these door sweeps and are quick to respond when work orders are placed.
- Our Maintenance Staff setup the chairs and had Warrior Stadium ready for the Community Pep Rally.
- Several HVAC units were struggling to keep our buildings cool during this heatwave. Mike Hayes and Jim Currin were on every roof and in every building to have all the systems running and ready for the staff and students. We had to schedule replacement work on some units that could not be repaired.
- Claude ordered numerous types of signage that was needed abound all campuses and the park.
- Our grounds crew has been cleaning up several areas and hauling scrap metal to the scrap yard.
- Chief Templeton and Mr. Busbey are looking for ways to help the BI drop-off traffic. The BI drop-off line will have a different entry very soon.
TECHNOLOGY
- Mike has recovered from his broken foot and is out of his boot. The department stepped up in a great way while he was out and when he wasn't 100%.
Daniel and Mike repaired the Finley-Oates digital sign, reconfigured, and ran a new communications line.
100% of student Chromebooks are ready for service. 100 new Chromebooks have been setup for the LH Rather campus. Throughout the district, other student Chromebooks are being repaired based on damage the librarians discovered while checking each cart at the end of the school year.
Carlito is teaching some of the BHS library student aides how to repair Chromebooks. He visits their class 2-3 times a week to train and check on resources/parts.
A Virtual Camera Server has been installed and in process of being setup with the demo licensing for all the campus cameras to see if this will meet our needs for surveillance, storage, and retrieval. The new video storage array arrived, has been setup, and is currently saving camera data.
- The Technology Staff setup the sound and managed any sound issues that may have occurred during the Community Pep Rally.
