Thursday, Jan. 13th our boys played Ore City at home.

7th grade won 40-10.

8th grade won 38-18.

The 7th and 8th grade boys then had a tournament at Spring Hill. Seventh grade came out with a second-place win and 8th grade placed 4th.

Way to go, Bears!

Our girls played White Oak a couple of weeks ago.

7A 7-11 with GMS on top and 8B 31-30 with a loss.

Our 7B and 8B girls combined and got a W for GMS!

On Jan. 13th, our girls traveled to Ore City.

7A won 60-10 and 8A won 17-15.

Our 7B and 8B girls combined and got another W for GMS!

Our All-Region Band qualifiers met for a clinic Friday, January 14th.

Back in December, some of our GMS band students competed against other students from other schools for the All-Region Band. Eighth grader, Aleigha McGuyer, did very well and made this prestigious band. This past Friday, she participated in the All-Region Band clinic and performed in the concert Friday evening as 1st chair trumpet! Congratulations to Aleigha! We are very proud of you!

3 Weeks Progress Reports will go out this week.

• At the end of this week, students should be 1/3 completed with their AR goals.
• If students don't have a book, they can use Sora by going to Clever.com. https://soraapp.com/library/gladewater There are over 1,300 electronic books they can read and some are available in audio format.
• We are still in our argumentative unit. Students can study notes from their journals and access practice items in their Google Classroom.
• The data from our recent i-Ready screener shows we need to work on vocabulary and comprehension of fictional and non-fictional texts.

Math also completed the i-Ready screeners. We are using the data to plan RTI and daily instruction.

Our school and journalistic community suffered a loss with the death of Mrs. Bardwell. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to be included in the GMS newsletter list and even shared some of our information on the Gladewater Mirror Facebook page. She is a light that will be missed.

Thank you for all you did for our community, Mrs. Bardwell. Rest well.
