STEM: Health Careers Pathway
- On Wednesday, October 17th, our Health Careers Pathway (HCP) hosted a special guest, Dr. Andrew Ho, a high-profile cardiologist affiliated with several hospitals (including Loma Linda). Dr. Ho shared some of his experiences with our HCP students, providing our Panthers with a unique opportunity to learn more about the field directly from a highly successful practitioner.
- Our HCP students had an opportunity to visit the Ben Clark Training Facility to gain some hands-on experiences on what it means to be a first responder. We have developed a partnership with the facility and this marks the third year that we have participated in this field trip.

Bullying Prevention Month
October is National Bullying Prevention Month. It is a campaign by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center started in 2006. It unites communities nationwide to inform, educate, and raise awareness of bullying prevention. National Bullying Prevention Month is recognized in communities across the United States, with many schools and organizations supporting and signing as partners. More than one out of every five (20.8%) students report being bullied (National Center for Educational Statistics, 2016). The federal government began collecting data on school bullying in 2005, when the prevalence of bullying was around 28 percent (U.S. Department of Education, 2015).
- Bullied students reported that bullying occurred in the following places: the hallway or stairwell at school (42%), inside the classroom (34%), in the cafeteria (22%), outside on school grounds (19%), on the school bus (10%), and in the bathroom or locker room (9%) (National Center for Educational Statistics, 2016).
- 43% of bullied students report notifying an adult at school about the incident. Students who report higher rates of bullying victimization are more likely to report the bullying (National Center for Educational Statistics, 2016).
Corona Norco Unified School District does not tolerate bullying. #CNUSDisKind - #CNUSDitTakesaVillage is an anti-bullying and school safety social media campaign aimed at fostering a safe school environment, reducing stigma, spreading positivity, and encouraging students to be kind to one another. The goal is to challenge students, parents, staff, and the community to participate in simple random acts of kindness. Students and staff are encouraged to share their stories of kindness via social media using the hashtag #CNUSDisKind and/or #CNUSDitTakesaVillage

We Dine Together
Students have the opportunity to bring their lunch and make connections with other students in a new movement/club called "We Dine Together." Being WELL-CONNECTED is part of our RAWR culture. Activities include having conversation with others during lunch, participating in ice-breakers, playing games, and enjoying some snacks. Gatherings will be held as follows:
- 1st lunch: Tuesdays in P-2.
- 2nd lunch: Wednesdays in B-12.
Whether students are shy, outgoing, or somewhere in-between, dining together is the right thing to do!
Got ASB?
A great way for your child to have a better high school experience is by getting him/her involved in any of extracurricular activities and events. An ASB card provides opportunities throughout the year for our students get involved while saving money. This little card can very well end up saving $$$ over the course of the year and can even pay for itself after only a few uses. Here are some of the perks:
- FREE admission to ALL home sporting events, excluding CIF playoffs (these are never free); that's a savings of at least $125
- Discounts on ALL dances and events (including the Performing Arts); that's another savings of at least $30
- FREE athletic patches and inserts (patches cost $20 without an ASB card and inserts cost $5); that's a potential savings of at least $25
- FREE giveaways on GOT ASB? Days
- ASB Cards can be purchased for $40 in the Student Store, but students receive benefits valued at approximately $200 (maybe even more as new activities get added to the calendar throughout the year)
