What To Do If You Child Is Not Feeling Well
If your child is ill with symptoms consistent (cough, sore throat, stomach issues, headaches, fatigue, congestion, etc ...) with Covid-19 contact Mr. Crissey and your child's teacher and then the following protocols must be followed:
Students May Return After
10 days have passed since symptoms started, and improvement in overall symptoms, and 24 hours have passed without fever and use of fever-reducing medication.
OR
Provide doctor’s note to campus health room staff stating that symptoms are not COVID-19-related and student can return to school.
OR
Provide a negative COVID-19 test.
As an FYI the same holds true for staff members.
Technology Assistance
If you need assistance please contact the AISD Student Help Desk at 512-414-4357. If they are unable to assist please reach out to me at david.crissey@austinisd.org.
Counselor's Corner
Dear Bear Creek Family,
Over the next 2 weeks, I will be talking with your child about personal safety in our classrooms and community. We want your child to feel comfortable talking about this topic openly in the classroom and with staff at the school. We hope you will encourage your child to talk about personal safety at home, too. Please support your child in talking with you about their concerns.
Through a personal safety lesson adapted for each grade level, your child will learn how to identify feelings that tell them that something is wrong and what they can do to stay safe. Students will also learn about boundaries and personal privacy. Additionally, they will talk about stranger danger and practice strategies to stay safe. Please contact me or your child’s teacher for support with these strategies.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at Ms. Sheeran at alyssa.sheeran@austinisd.org.
Here are some ways you can help:
Remember that students should feel safe at school.
Teach your child to walk in a confident, assertive manner.
Encourage your child to walk away and tell a trusted adult if they feel uncomfortable or get “Warning sign” feelings.
With your child, practice using a strong voice or strong look. These are things we have practiced at school. Say NO!
Remind students that private areas are areas covered by a swimsuit
Remind students that grown-ups should never ask you to keep secrets from your parents
Talk about safe ways to act in situations that might be dangerous. For example, identify a safe house or store or walk with an adult or older child.
MIDDLE SCHOOL INFORMATION HERE! I am updating this Smore regularly as information comes in. This is the same information that has been going out in 5th grade Newsletter.
