Gooding Community Newsletter

Funds are being raised for Gooding High School boys basketball to pay for summer basketball camps, new basketballs, and shooting shirts. The goal is for each player to get $300 or more donated from friends, relatives, neighbors, family members or community members.

The players are doing this fundraiser on their own, without any outside companies, so they will keep 100% of all donations received. If you aren't able to donate at this time, it's okay. We hope to see you at the games when our season begins with our home game on December 1st. We are working hard this summer as we prepare for an exciting season of Senator Basketball!

The Gooding Lions Club donated $1,000 to the Friends of North Canyon Medical Center for their Chapel Project.

The Lions Club will be selling raffle tickets next to the arena during the Gooding Fair and Rodeo to support our community. Remember to stop by and say hi. This year we are proud to offer an amazing "fire ball" creation by Ron Reed Welding. Tickets will be available soon!

2023 Gooding Pro Rodeo Tickets will be available beginning at 7:00 am on Friday, July 14th. Tickets will be sold at the FAIR OFFICE and online at tickets.goodingprorodeo.com.

Thank you to Library Director, Cindy Bigler, and her wonderful staff at the Gooding Public Library for all you do! Cindy and her staff are such an asset to our community. If you have never been to an event put on by the Gooding Public Library you are missing out. Each event if fun and creative.

A new feature has been added to the West Park! The City has partnered with a number of agencies and local businesses to bring you another way for adults to maintain a healthy lifestyle. We will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony near the end of July to showcase the amenity.

Last year the City of Gooding received a grant from the Idaho Parks and Recreation to improve our RV Dump Station on 2nd Ave. West. This grant allowed us to replace lines and fixtures so that citizens can use the facility year-round. We were also able to fence off an area, plant grass and trees and install a picnic table so that you can allow your dogs to run while the camper is getting emptied. We hope this facility can double as a small dog park that many can use.

The City of Gooding is putting a schedule together for roads to be chip sealed in August. We are planning on working on streets West of Main Street.

Dates have not been set at this time. Notices will be delivered to residents on these streets prior to work beginning. Anything parked in the Right of Way, including vehicles, will need to be removed the night before to avoid damage. Thank you for your help, it makes our job safer and we appreciate it!

The Chamber of Commerce has received a very generous grant from Glanbia Nutritional's through the Operation Facelift program sponsored by the Rural Economic Development Services. This grant will be used to build flower baskets that will be hung on Main Street. This will bring some welcome color to Main Street. Thank you Glanbia for supporting our community!

The area around the playground equipment at the East Park will be closed for repairs from July 10th - July 14th.

Please stay out of the repair area to avoid any accidents.

Temperatures are on the rise and it's going to be hot! Remember these safety tips.

As summer is upon us please remember to burn wisely. You can obtain a FREE burn permit from the City Hall and follow the rules posted on the permit.

Thank you to all of those that can to the Fire House and supported the Fireman's BBQ! It was a great success.
