Musicians in the making
The pictures below are the first piano assignment to find "C position." Many learners have keyboards at home, those who don't are finding a way! Some made their own "virtual" keyboards from paper, or are using an online or app version.

Art
Creativity is a SUPERPOWER!
5th and 6th graders are boosting spirits by making free choice art!
Each week, artists choose to make art using prompts from our weekly choice board or by following their own interests and passions! Choice-based art is perfectly suited to making art from your home studio.
Here are some examples of what artists are working on:
- Drawing and painting
- Making their own sketchbooks
- Sculpting using natural materials, Legos or recycled materials
- Difference Maker Artists are sharing their chalk art, door decorations, paintings and cards with others
- Culinary Artists are creating works of edible art
- Several artists have made color wheels out of objects at home
Here is a small sampling of the incredible variety of work that artists made this week:
Artist notes:
“I made peanut butter cookies and wrote ‘Arts Fun’ on them with icing.” Aiden Heim, 5th grader
In response to setting up a home studio, 5th grader Laney Hollinger shared: “These are coffee cans I painted to hold gel pens and colored pencils.”
6th grader Adelle Harrill used the Artist Studio Habit of Mind “Envision” to create this painting. She wrote, “I had an idea about having birds deliver mail instead of mailmen.”
6th grader Haley Landis made edible art. She wrote, “These are my Fruit Flowers!”
5th Grader Ryleigh Winters made “Apple Family Edible Art - apples, strawberry, peanut butter, wonton noodles and candy eyes”.
5th grader Jaida Redcay made art with her father. “I got old wood and sanded it then we used water color paint. Then we painted family on it. Me and my dad did it together.”
6th grader Jesse High made a ship in a bottle: “Made this after getting it for a Easter present and now just finishing it.”
