Seniors, Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation Scholarship (AKA-Bexar County Scholarship Clearing House) is aware that most of you have not taken the SAT/ACT test due to this pandemic. Therefore, you may resume in applying for those scholarships you are considering WITHOUT providing test scores. I do recommend to notate it anywhere on the Part:II-scholarship nomination sheet. Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why should I apply for the 2020-21 Bexar County Scholarship Clearinghouse?
A: One awesome thing about this scholarship program is that even the busiest of seniors can apply for multiple scholarships just by completing this application packet. Many recent Harlan HS graduates were fortunate to receive 1 or multiple scholarships found in the attached booklet, all because they took the time to submit their application!
Our past recipients include: Danielle Sotelo, 2019 - Valero Alamo Bowl Scholarship and Valeria Renteria, 2019 - Valero Alamo Bowl Scholarship..
Q: Am I required to take an SAT or ACT exam in order to apply for this program?
A: If you plan on applying to this program, it is strongly recommended that you take an SAT on either September 26th or on October 3rd, or an ACT in September. Be sure to use the following codes to send your scores directly to the MSPF office- SAT: # 0401; ACT # 4065.
Students can contact Mrs. Sandoval at nelda.sandoval@nisd.net to verify eligibility status for testing fee waivers, and receive one via email, if they are eligible. Students can submit their application packet without SAT or ACT scores, but it is up to each awarding organization whether they will accept or deny applications without them.
Q: If I am selected to receive a scholarship, will the Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation office contact me?
A: No, in the event that a student is selected to receive a scholarship from a partner organization, the individual organization will notify the student, whether it is by a phone call, e-mail, or regular mail. Some organizations notify students as early as the late fall and some as late as mid-spring. Each awarding organization is different!
Q: What are my chances? Am I guaranteed to receive a scholarship by filling out this application?
A: It is not guaranteed that you will receive a scholarship by submitting this application but you will definitely not receive a scholarship from these organizations if you don't even attempt to apply.
