Health News
My name is Melissa Stalvey and I am the new School Nurse for Cowles Montessori School. I am really looking forward to being a part of the Cowles community. Feel free to stop into my office anytime for questions, concerns, or just to say hi!
As we begin the 2018-2019 school year, here are some reminders for you and your student(s):
Health Concerns
Please let me know of any severe allergies or medical conditions that may require my attention during the school day.
Medications
Students may NOT carry over-the-counter or prescription medications with them at school. If your student requires medication at school the medication must be given to the nurse in its original container with the prescription label. A parent must sign a consent form allowing medication to be administered at school.
Tylenol or Ibuprofen for Middle School Students
6th, 7th, and 8th grade students may receive 5 doses of Tylenol or ibuprofen throughout the school year if a parent provided consent during the registration process.
When Should Your Student Stay Home?
· fever > 100
· diarrhea or vomiting
· Strep Throat or Impetigo
- may return 24 hours after 1st dose of antibiotics
· Chicken Pox
- may return after 1 week or all the lesions have crusted over
· Pink eye
- may return 24 hours after 1st dose of antibiotics
