CHS Fall Update

Hello CHS Students and Families,

What a great start to the year!

We've worked very hard to make the expectations of a learning environment clear and consistent. We are also looking to build our school community. You can see examples of this below with the many opportunities to participate in Homecoming Week events, Spirit Week, etc.

We hope to see our families participate as you are able to also!

Just a reminder that there is no school for students on Monday, 9/26 in any CSD school as we have a Professional Development day.

After Homecoming week, 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students will complete valuable PreACT Testing. Look for a separate email with this information coming soon.

One of our counselors, Mrs. Schraufnagel, has departed as of 9/23. Mrs. Gravelle will be taking over all counseling duties while we actively work through the hiring process.

Thanks for your patience with the Counseling Department while they are currently shortstaffed.

Midquarter is coming up on 9/30.

This marks the halfway point of Q1. It's a great time to check Skyward Family Access.

Often, Midquarter 1 grades can be affected as there are typically less assignments due up to this point than other quarters due to it being the start of the school year and courses.

Please contact your student's teacher directly if you have any questions after checking Skyward.

HS Conferences are coming up on 10/25, but now is the best time to check in if needed.

Daily Announcements are being read building wide this year at the beginning of 3rd period to ensure that all students can hear announcements.

If you are new to the HS, welcome! CHS Updates will be sent as needed to keep you updated. Any pressing information will be sent via Skyward Messenger to your email.

Homecoming tickets will be on sale during lunch on Tuesday, September 27 from 11:28 to 11:56 am and on Wednesday and Thursday from 11:09 to 11:38 am in the cafeteria. Last day to purchase tickets is THURSDAY. NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD ON FRIDAY. If you are not here during lunch, you will need to make arrangements with Mrs. McGray to purchase your ticket. The cost of the ticket is $10.00 each.

No tickets will be sold at the door. They must be prepurchased.

The dance is Saturday 10/1 from 8-11 in the Cafeteria.

Wednesday night: Powderpuff football on the football field at 6:00 pm, Jr/Sr Boys Volleyball to follow in the MS gym.

Friday: Parade at 2:30 with a pep rally beforehand (Pep rally is in school- no visitors please.)

The parade is of course open to the public. It will start in the HS parking lot and go east on Hwy 67, right on FDL Ave, right on Main Street, and then back to school on Barton Street. (Bussing routes will run as normal, departing schools at the normal times.)

If you are normally out of the building during the morning, you do not need to adjust your schedule if you can't on Friday. (Example- you are at a college course. Don't skip your college course to come to 5th period on 9/30.) If you have any questions, notify the office.
