This has been a year like no other. Thank you for working with us to ensure a strong finish to the 2020-21 school year. We appreciate your support and patience. As the end of the school year approaches, we wanted to inform you about end-of-year state testing.
The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) has received a conditional waiver from the US Department of Education to administer a reduced number of end-of-year assessments. This means students will take fewer tests than in previous years. The tests will also be shorter than typical end-of-year assessments. To find out which tests your child will take, please see the table below.
What tests will my child take in 2020-21?
3rd Grade Required Test: ELA
3rd Grade Optional Test: Mathematics
4th Grade Required Test: Mathematics
4th Grade Optional Test: ELA
5th Grade Required Test: Science
5th Grade Optional Test: ELA & Mathematics
“Required tests” will be available on site. If your child is learning at home, your Comprehensive Distance Learning (CDL) school will contact you about their testing schedule.
Bussing will be available for those that need transportation, specific dates will be provided by your child’s school along with the testing schedule. ODE and Newberg School District does not require and would not recommend that parents bring students to school to participate in state end-of-year assessments in situations where they have health or safety concerns.
You may ask for your child to participate in “optional tests”. To ask for an optional test, contact your school. Optional tests are taken on site, just like required tests. As in years past, you will receive a report with your child’s summative test scores mailed with their end of year report card.
