Dear Sward Families:

Wow! I cannot even believe the 2021-2022 school year is coming to a close! It seems like just yesterday, I was writing the first Take Home Tuesday newsletter for this school year.

Thank you for your partnership as we continue to maneuver the ins and outs and ups and downs of the pandemic... together. It is so important to remember that we are a team and all in this together... for our kids.

As we wrap up this school year I wish all of you a happy, healthy, and safe summer. Whether your child will be back with us in the fall, moving to OLHMS, or moving into a different school or district, please remember ONCE AN EAGLE, ALWAYS AN EAGLE!

If you placed an order for the Mrs. Fields fundraising event, pick up will be at the Sward main doors on Brandt on Wednesday, June 1 from 4:30-6:00 p.m. Please make sure you come pick up the orders since we have very limited storage.

If your child will be transferring out of Sward at the end of the year, please contact the Sward office ASAP. The office will prepare transfer papers.

This message is for all students other than the 5th graders going to OLHMS in the fall.

Please remember to have your child wear their FIELD DAY T-SHIRT to school this Thursday, June 2.

If you are volunteering Friday for Field Day and have not had your ID scanned, if possible, please stop in the office prior to Thursday.

If you forgot to purchase a yearbook and would like to still try to purchase one, there are a few extra in the Sward main office for $20. They will be first come, first served... while supplies last.

You will be able to find your child's Report Cards and MAP Scores in Skyward Family Access under the Portfolio Tab. (See below for helpful instructions.)

If medication is stored in Sward's Health Office please pick it up on or before Thursday June 2nd. If not picked up by the above date it will be discarded. A new Medication Authorization form must be filled out each year. Medication Authorization forms will be sent home and no medications can be given without an order. Please call the health office with any questions or concerns.

Parents of Grade 5 students,

We have a day of fun planned for your child! On June 2, we will be starting the day with team building games and activities in order to have a great time while solidifying bonds before they move onto OLHMS. Following their team builders, they will be having an all beef hot dog picnic (a permission form for the food was sent home today). Then, we will be having a brief award ceremony. Awards will include participation awards such as certificates for the students in service clubs, chorus, and patrol. They will then proceed into their Field Day events.

What a fun day they will have!!

After school, there will be a balloon arch out in front of the Sward main entrance for photo opportunities for our fifth graders who will be "leaving the nest."

Last week, children in grades Kinder through Grade 4 brought home a Summer Literacy Activity Calendar. This is an optional activity to help keep your child's learning and progress happening all summer long. In partnership with the Oak Lawn Public Library, we've got a variety of literacy activities designed to develop fluency of reading and writing while igniting imaginations.

Chorus members, please turn in your chorus shirts to the office ASAP. If the shirt is not turned in, there will be a $12.00 charge. Thank you.

We currently have many lost items waiting to be found. Click here to check out all of the items that are trying to find their way home. The items will also be out on a table during Friday's Field Day.

Your child brought home a Back-To-School Supply Kit form in their Take Home Tuesday folder today. This form includes ordering instructions. They are grade level specific and will be delivered to your child's classroom for the first day of school. If you have any questions, please reach out to Nicole at npirklgoodfellow@gmail.com

If you registered your child(ren) for the D123 Summer Programs, information is coming home with your child today! Please check their backpacks!

Returning student registration began today. Please log into Family Access on your Skyward account to begin the process.
