October 3, 2022
Greetings FWAFA Family,
Hope your week is off to a great start! Looking forward to seeing all of our 3rd grade and high school art students this week at the Monster Art Show and 3rd/4th Grade Theatre Performances and at the elementary Fall Fair Doo-Dah on Thursday after school. It is hosted by the Sophomore class and sounds like they have a lot of fun activities planned.
Please look for teachers sending out their Sign-Up Genius link to sign up for a parent conference this Thursday after early dismissal at 12:15 p.m.
Have a magnificently Magical Week!
Creatively yours,
Dr. Jackson
October 6 - Elementary Fall Fair Doo-Dah
On October 6th, the sophomore class is having a Fall Fair themed Doo-Dah for 3rd-6th grade. The fun begins at dismissal on Thursday and goes until 3:15 p.m. We will dance, play games, and have face painting for the first half of the Doo-Dah, and then we will watch a movie for the last hour and a half.
There will be a $20 fee to attend. Fee includes two slices of pizza and a water bottle. There will be more pizza, snacks, and drinks for sale. $10 extra should be more than sufficient for extra items.
You can bring $20 to your homeroom teacher or pay online. The permission slip was emailed through Jupiter Ed.

Monsteriffic: Monster Art Show & Theatre Performance
Sponsored by FWAFA National Art Honor Society
Oct 5 | 5PM
The Monster Art Show is a FWAFA Favorite. This annual tradition connects our youngest artists to our high school students in a collaborative effort to raise money for the FWAFA Art department.
Third grade students spend time designing and creating a monster straight from their imagination. High school students then take that creation and bring it to life with their phenomenal artistic skills. Monster artwork can range in medium, anywhere from paintings to digital renditions, to glass sculpture, to crochet.
Third grade parents will have the opportunity to purchase their child's monster to take home. There will also be additional monsters to purchase and some fun trinkets for anyone to purchase. All proceeds will go to the Visual Arts Program, benefitting our budding artists.
Theatre Performance:
"Calling All the Monsters or You're Going to be in Big Trouble!"
Starting at 6:30 p.m. in the FWAFA auditorium, "Monsteriffic" is a combined performance for our 3rd & 4th grade Theatre students. "Monsteriffic" will showcase poems and stories by our 3rd grade students, group scenes by our 4th grade students, and a combined performance with both grades. This should be a scary good time!
Event is FREE and appropriate for all ages.

Calling all foolish mortals: join the FWAFA Choral Department and special guests from FWAFA Dance for a spooktacular concert celebrating all things October!
Come celebrate the season with TBC as they take you through the incantations of the Wayward Sisters or ride along with CCT as they conjure up the sights and sounds of the Great Hall at Hogwarts. Maybe you'll even travel on the back of an Alebrije to cross the Marigold Bridge with SGT and FWAFA Dance as they explore the culture and beauty of Dia de Los Muertos!
Dress up in your favorite costume, get on your broomstick, and fly in to see "Goosebumps" on Friday, October 14th at 7:00 p.m. at Birchman Baptist Church. There will even be a few sweet treats for the ghouls and ghosts who show their spooky spirit!

Arrival and Dismissal Reminders!
Drivers should NOT use electronic devices while dropping off or picking up children. Cell-phones and other devices create an unsafe situation. Drivers should drive the posted speed limit on Hulen Street and decrease speed as they enter the FWAFA parking lot.
Arrival:
· Students may arrive at 7:20 a.m.
· Students will not be admitted to the building prior to this time, unless part of a morning tutorial with one of their grade level teachers.
· Students must stay in their vehicle until they have been admitted into the building.
· Drivers should pull their vehicles all the way to the exterior doors to help with the flow of traffic.
· Students should be ready to exit the vehicle as soon as it comes to a stop.
· The back East doors close at 7:55 a.m. After 7:55 a.m., students should use the front door to enter the building.
· For the safety of students, drop off in the morning is one lane. In the back, students should only be let out in the right lane, so they do not cross through traffic. In the front, students should be let out in the left lane.
· Students arriving after 8:05 a.m. must be checked in through the front office.
Dismissal:
· No early dismissals allowed after 3:15 p.m.

· Students must stay with their parent/guardian if they have been released from the teacher.
· Students are not allowed to walk around the building without supervision, even with parent permission.

We want to thank you all for following these procedures. There have been some recent accidents at dismissal involving teachers being hit by drivers in the pick-up line.
