Cheerleading
The MHS Varsity Cheer Team kicked off their season with a great week at the National Cheerleaders Association camp in Honesdale, PA! The team worked hard learning new material, stunts and pyramids, all while bonding with their new teammates. The culmination of camp happened on the final day, where the team placed 2nd in the Varsity Jam competition. They were given Technical Excellence Awards in stunting and tumbling, as well as spirit sticks each night of camp. 9 athletes were nominated to try out for All American (Seniors Rachel Bower, Noelle Emerson, Gianna Kavash, Jorja Rembert, Aubrie Wells, Sophomores Carmela Peta, Marin Wells and Freshmen Sarah Miller and Kayla Watson) and three were chosen for the NCA All American Team (Rachel B, Gianna K, Jorja R). Three seniors, Gianna Kavash, Jorja Rembert and Aubrie Wells, were "apped" to join the NCA staff as graduates, a testament to their skills and leadership. Lastly, the team was NFHS Credentialed and earned a bid to NCA HS Nationals in Dallas, TX. What an amazing start to the season!
Upcoming Events:
-Friday 8/25 - Game vs. Pottsgrove (HOME)
Boys Cross Country
On Saturday the boys xc team opened up their preseason winning the Ivyland 5k. Matt Sandner won the race running 16:22. Freshman, Brock Yoder won the 11-14 age bracket and Junior Charlie Reith and sophomore Colin O'Donnell placed 6th and 7th in the race.
Upcoming Events:
-Friday 8/25 - Scrimmage Meet, 2 Miler @ SpringFord HS (AWAY)
Girls Cross Country
The Girls X-C Team completed a very busy but successful first week. There was a timed 20-minute run on the track to establish fitness, two timed miles on the track, a recovery run, and learning the skills needed to be prepared for a race or meet.
The Team competed at the Ivyland 5K on Saturday 8/19 and did very well. The Team won the Team competition and the award was a pie. Sr Molly Thomas was first in her age category, and the award was a pie. She was also the overall first women finisher, and that award was a bottle of maple syrup because there was an all you can eat pancake breakfast with the race. An added positive to this event was Fr Ashley Hermus finished second in her age category, and that award was an engraved spatula. The Team finished the week on Sunday with its biggest fundraiser, a car wash on Ridge Pike. Now, we are off to week two...
Upcoming Events:
-Friday 8/25 - Scrimmage Meet, 2 Miler @ SpringFord HS (AWAY)
Field Hockey
Field hockey has successfully completed the first week of the season. The team spent time brushing up on skills and working on improving their speed, agility and conditioning with our strength and conditioning coach, Da'Rel Scott. On Saturday, the team hosted their third annual Warriors Play Day where five other teams from around the area came to kick off the season. The varsity team went 3-1-1 on the day and JV went 2-1-2.
Both teams also took some time to select their team captains for the season. Congratulations to varsity captains Lily DeWan, Renee Blake, and Carmela Maro, and JV captains Alyssa Sardo and Nicole Walsh.
This week, the team has another week of practice planned. The week finishes up with the second scrimmage of the season against Notre Dame on Friday at home; JV plays at 2:00 pm and varsity plays at 3:30 pm.
Upcoming Events:
-Friday 8/25 - Scrimmage vs. Notre Dame (HOME)
Football
Our scrimmage on Saturday 8/19 vs. Lower Merion was as we expected. We had a chance to see what “Live” contact is. We had a few players show us that they can play varsity football after being on our JV team last year.
We learned a lot at the scrimmage. Offensively we have to control the ball and limit our mistakes. We have to focus on what we do - and do it well. Defensively we can not allow the big plays and get the ball back to our Offense. WE need to excel at Special Teams - we have to create plays and be explosive
This week we will face Pottsgrove. They are well coached and are a very physical team. We have to match the physical play in all phases.
We had a few standout players this past week. Kolby Howarth, Nick Remish, Dylan Pahick, DJ Balinger and Collin O’Neill have emerged as our leaders. They continue to work hard in practice and never make excuses.
Upcoming Events:
-Friday 8/25 - Game vs. Pottsgrove (HOME)
Boys Golf
The boys golf team had a great first week of pre-season last week, practicing daily at their home course of Skippack. The team did not have any official contests during opening week but look forward to their first match of the season on Thursday vs. Pottsgrove HS this week.
Upcoming Events:
-Thursday 8/24 - Match vs Pottsgrove @ Landis Creek (AWAY)
Girls Golf
Upcoming Events:
-Monday 8/21 - Match vs. Perk Valley (AWAY)
-Wednesday 8/23 - Match vs. Hatboro Horsham (AWAY)
Boys Soccer
The Boys' Soccer Team completed an intense week of pre-season training last week to begin the 2023 campaign. The Varsity and JV rosters are now complete and we head into competition this week. On Monday we host Plymouth-Whitemarsh and on Wednesday we host Dock in scrimmages. Then, the regular season begins with a trip to Upper Dublin. On Saturday we are having our annual Car Wash Fundraiser at the Family Services Building on Ridge Pike in Eagleville. Come on out to support the team and get your vehicle looking great!
Upcoming Events:
-Monday 8/21 - Scrimmage vs. Plymouth-Whitemarsh (HOME)
-Wednesday 8/23 - Scrimmage vs. Dock Mennonite Academy (HOME)
-Friday 8/25 - Game vs. Upper Dublin (AWAY)
Girls Soccer
Girls soccer had a very good week of 2-a-day practices to start preseason, and are looking forward to a great regular season. The team selected seniors Aubrey Beaugard, Anna Rees, and Kendall Ricca as team captains. After a Tuesday scrimmage against Hatboro Horsham, the girls will start their regular season playing in the Spring Ford kickoff tournament this Friday and Saturday. Friday’s game is home against Dallas High School at 4:30, while Saturday they travel to Spring Ford to play Valley View High School.
Upcoming Events:
-Tuesday 8/22 - Scrimmage vs. Hatboro Horsham (AWAY)
-Friday 8/25 - Game vs. Dallas HS (HOME)
-Saturday 8/26 - Game vs. Valley View HS @ SpringFord (AWAY)
Girls Tennis
Girls tennis had a great first week of tryouts! We had 37 girls come out. We are looking to rebuild our varsity squad this season replacing 6 of the 11 spots that graduated last season. We are ready to go for our first match of this season which will take place at home Monday against North Penn.
Upcoming Events:
-Monday 8/21 - Match vs. North Penn (HOME)
Volleyball
This week volleyball will start competing in scrimmages with two home scrimmages. They will be at home Tuesday and Wednesday with a 3:45 JV start and Varsity to follow. Varsity will travel to Downingtown East on Friday for an opening weekend tournament. Methacton won the tournament last year and we will be going in looking to defend our title.
Upcoming Events:

-Wednesday 8/23 - Scrimmage vs. Lansdale Catholic (HOME)
