DEAR DRRHS COMMUNITY:
Graduation day is a community affair! Many thanks to the folks at PRES, BMS, DES, and DMS for hosting their former students as they said a final goodbye and thank you to the educators who brought them along their journey. Thanks also to the families, friends, and community supporters who participated in the parade on Thursday. Everything you've done to make our grads feel your love and support has been noticed and appreciated.
On this graduation eve, the weather is looking good, so we fully expect to hold the ceremony outside at the Robert T. Roy Stadium on the high school campus. Please remember that seating in the stands is open, first-come, first seated. If the weather takes a turn, we will notify the community that the ceremony will be held indoors via our Apptegy website and the automated call and text system just like we would when school is cancelled due to snow. The decision will be made by 2pm. No news is good news. Unless you hear otherwise, graduation will be outdoors.
If you are a parent or family member of a graduate, I need your help! Please remind the graduates:
- Meet in the auditorium at 3 pm
- Caps may be decorated following the "classy, not sassy" guidelines
- Gowns must be zipped for the ceremony
- Enjoy the moment! Keep your phone away during the ceremony!
Once graduation has passed, we are looking forward to the annual Junior Book Awards ceremony taking place on Tuesday at 12:30 pm in the auditorium. If your child is receiving an award, you should have received an invitation from Ms. Chang. Please read the newsletter linked below.
For all underclassmen, please remember that final exams are worth 10% of your grade in all your classes. Prepare for success! We have only 4 full days of school this year. Let's make them count!

FALCON PRIDE
DRRHS STUDENTS IN CIVIC ACTION
Megan Keane, Sophie Darling, and Lorelei Kellum continued their advocacy for their Civics Project by visiting the state house this week where they met with two representatives and two senators during a lobbying session to make them aware of the bill S.1424 which will ban the sale of cosmetics that test on animals. They also had the opportunity to speak with Representative Jack Lewis who is the House Sponsor/founder for the bill they have been promoting. The students got to visit his office and explain their project and he talked about the bill and other actions he has done to support animals. He also followed their Instagram account, how cool! The girls were able to tour the House Chamber and snap some photos as well. The students also met with a member of the MSPCA who wanted to hear more about their project and urged them to go to the hearing of the S.1424 bill once it is on the House agenda. The students are hoping this bill will be passed this legislative year and hopefully they will be able to urge other states to do the same once it does. It was overall an amazing experience!
