CIMS Families -

Thanks to all who helped us celebrate National School Counseling Week this past week by honoring and recognizing our 4 counselors: Mrs. Hanberg, Ms. Allen, Mr. Hauck, and Mrs. Jones!

Also, February is Black History Month. We are excited to continue celebrating and honoring those who have made a profound impact on our lives! Be sure to ask your student for details on the Black History Month Digital Poster Contest -- students received an invitation to participate via email from their school counselor! We look forward to seeing our students' creativity and selecting FIVE winners per grade level!

We hope you stay warm this weekend and throughout next week as we prepare for cold(er) weather! In the event we have a weather-related school delay or closing, please encourage your child to check their Warren email and teacher Canvas pages for directions and daily scheduling information.

A two-hour delay means that school (for both in person and virtual students) would begin two hours later than usual - in our case at CIMS, the school day would begin at 10:55 AM. If students ride the bus, their bus will arrive 2 hours later than normal. A delay would not impact dismissal time. Delays and closings will always be communicated via our school website, Twitter page, and through local news channels.

If a two-hour delay were to occur this coming Tuesday or Thursday (Feb. 9th or 11th) our students who visit the building for 6th, 7th, & 8th grade Learning Hubs will instead attend their Learning Hubs virtually via Zoom.

For the coming week, students in grades 6, 7, and 8 will continue to have instructional days on Monday, Wednesday, & Friday virtually. Application Days will continue on Tuesday/Thursday.

*6th - 8th grade in-person hybrid learners are set to return on February 17th, again following a black/gold schedule. See below for more details.*

Questions related to scheduling can be directed to your child's grade-level counselor or grade-level administrator.

ATTENDANCE REMINDER: If your child cannot attend a virtual Zoom class, please make sure a parent/caregiver calls CIMS to report the student as absent. The virtual learning environment is different from in person learning for many reasons; however, we still expect a parent/caregiver to notify us of an absence. Student self-reporting of absence reasons is not considered appropriate or official; we must hear from parents/caregivers.

TEXTBOOKS: Some families still have student textbooks to pick up in our main office. Please stop by any school day from 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM to pick up your child's books!

UPCOMING DATES TO NOTE:

  • FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 12 = Midterm 3 Grades available in ParentVue
  • MONDAY, FEBRUARY 15 = No School (Presidents' Day)
  • TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 16 = District eLearning Day (ALL STUDENTS access learning materials virtually from home)
  • WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 17 = Hybrid/In Person students in grades 6-8 return to school, resuming the black/gold schedule. Feb. 17th is a black cohort day.
