Morris Elementary School
Week of January 29th
Hello Parents and Guardians,
Mark your calendars! Global Play Day lands on February 1st, and Morris students are gearing up for a day of playful adventures designed to ignite creativity, build social skills, and boost resilience. Get ready for a day of imagination, laughter, and pure joy!
On January 31st, our selected 4th graders will participate in the NAEP test. The test provides valuable insights into student performance across the nation. Remember, NAEP results are just one piece of the puzzle, and we are confident our students will showcase their amazing skills!
While students enjoy a day off on February 2nd, our teachers will be diving into professional development workshops and training sessions. This investment in our educators ensures they have the latest knowledge and skills to bring the best learning experiences to your child.
Join us on March 21st as we celebrate Harmony Day, a worldwide event promoting respect for cultural diversity and inclusivity. My goal with this event is to showcase all of our families heritages that make up our school community. We are in need of volunteers to make this event possible. Please take a moment to complete this survey or reach out to me with any ideas you may have. Interest Survey
Don't forget to check the school website for more details about these exciting events and others throughout the month.

Safe Routes to School Contest
Your student(s) are invited to design a yard sign promoting safe roads to school for our Morris student walkers and bus riders.
The contest is now open and the deadline for entries to be turned into the Morris main office is February 12th.
This year's theme is "BUS STOP SAFETY".
Please remember that all signs need to be hand drawn or digitally created in landscape format. The four winning designs from all participating schools in MA will be made into yard signs and distributed to all the schools entered in the contest. This contest is for students in Grades 2-8. Your design can be submitted on 8 1/2 x 11 paper/or digitally in a landscape format.
All submissions must be received to the main office by the end of the school day on February 12th. At that time I will collect them and prepare to send them to them to the Safe Routes to Schools Office in Boston. If you could please download and fill out the form below as a parent/guardian's signature is required for your student to participate. Please hand that in along with the artwork. To learn more about how to enter the contest or to see past winning designs please see the link below.
