The BIS Bulletin

Character shirts were sent home today. Thank you to Home & School for ensuring every single one of our students has a green shirt to wear every year! If you ordered a character/theme shirt and have already paid, the shirt is being sent home with your student. If you ordered one but have not yet paid, payment can be made to the office at any time and the shirt will be sent home upon receipt.

School pictures were sent home Thursday, October 5. If you have any questions about your order or photos, please contact Wagner Portrait Group directly for assistance through wagnerportraitgroup.com or by calling at 314-567-5900.

Picture Retakes will be on Tuesday, October 24.

Halloween parties will take place on Tuesday, October 31 from 1:30pm-2:30pm.

Please note- This time has changed from the past.

Parents are asked to park in the middle parking lot OR gravel parking lot to help alleviate cars being parked in by the busses at the end of the day.

UPDATE- Students are welcome to bring their Halloween costumes to change into for the Halloween parade and class parties. The parade will begin at 1:15pm and will include BES and BIS students. Parents are asked to line up in the middle parking lot to view the parade. At the conclusion of the parade, parents are invited to attend classroom parties and enter the buildings at 1:30pm. Please make sure costumes can easily be slipped on over clothes and put on with minimal assistance. We ask that additional accessories or items easily left behind remain at home. We want to make sure everyone has the items they need for trick or treating that evening.

Students will also get to enjoy the GLOW party on October 31. Glow items will be provided to those that sold 4 or more items from the fundraiser.

Our school is participating in a creative fundraiser with Art to Remember that allows you to purchase keepsake products customized with your child's art. There are over 50 products. These make great gifts and a percentage of every purchase goes right back to our school. Artwork from past years (if your child attended school here in past years) are also available which is fun to look at and/ or order. Don’t Miss Out! Order deadline October 24, 2023

We want to recognize the wonderful things our students are doing outside of school in addition to their accomplishments at school. Whether it's playing in a soccer game or winning a karate tournament, we would love to showcase and celebrate our students! Please fill out the form below letting us know of anything special your student is doing outside of school (and include pictures if you can!) These will be featured on display screens throughout the school. We will continue to have this form available in future newsletters and on our school website so you can access it any time!

It doesn't take much to make a teacher's day, and one of the easiest ways to do that is treating them to a Sonic drink! If you would like to provide Sonic drinks for our teachers (we get them on Fridays) please reach out to Mrs. Burns (tburns@blairoaks.org) for further details. Drinks can be donated on behalf of an individual, an organization/business, or even anonymously if that is preferred.

We are looking for donations for the following items. (We will use these for projects at school and STEAM night.)

• Plastic grocery/Walmart bags
• Cardboard tubes (Paper towels, TP, etc)
• Small boxes (Kleenex, cereal, etc)
• Small tubs - with or without lids - (butter, yogurt, etc)

Fundraiser Item Pick Up will be on Thursday, October 26 between 1:00-6:00. Please note at all fundraiser items must be picked up at the elementary gym. If you are not able to pick up the items, please be sure to arrange pick up and contact the office with who will be picking up the items. Frozen items will not be stored at the end of the night, so please be sure to plan ahead to pick up items.

All parents (grades K-5) are welcome to join Home & School! This is our version of a PTA and provides an opportunity for parents to become involved with the school by taking leadership in planning yearly teacher appreciation incentives, extra-curricular events, and support for students and teachers. Meetings are held monthly and anyone can join at any time!
