Do you love science? Want to compete in your favorite science events? Be sure to talk to Ms. Freemyer or Mr. Peitz about joining Lesher’s science olympiad teams!

River Watch

Those interested in participating in Lesher’s River Watch Club. We are getting going next week. This year, we will meet on the THIRD THURSDAYS of each month. Grab an information packet and permission form from Mr. Mayer. See you next week!

Bike Safety

If you ride your bike on Stover, headed north to Prospect, please follow the bike lane. Do not cut through Poudre Global Academy's parking lot. This creates an unsafe situation.

Attendance

Please give our front office 48 hours to update attendance. There's a large number of emails and voicemails to document on a daily basis and we are trying our best to be accurate and timely with attendance.

PBIS

Every month we have a PBIS challenge for students to complete. Our first challenge of the year is being on time to every class every day. We will be having an extra No Tardy Powerball every week in September! So, get to class so you can be entered for a prize!

Visitors

Visitors please do not hold open the main door for someone walking in behind you. This creates a safety risk. Let us know if you have any questions!

Snack Shack

The snack shack will be open every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday after school.

Club Rush is happening next week in ELO! Every Lesher club will have a table in the gym. Students will spend time visiting with each club to gain insight, personal experiences, and information.

Mark your calendars. We would like to invite you to Lesher’s first OUTDOOR MOVIE NIGHT! On Thursday, October 12th after Student Led Conferences, join us to watch a fun movie on the Lesher field. We will have door prizes for anyone who bikes, food, and a fun movie! There will be more information to come or ask Mr. Mayer or Mr. Van Roekel.

Computer Science teacher Sherise Dawkins had the opportunity to work with CSU Powerhouse Energy Institute this past summer. Her project was to assist with the Stem Truck implementation. They met with various leadership teams at CSU Engineering and generated ideas for educational resources that will be utilized for the Stem Truck School in person visits. One of the main features was the Snap Circuit Kits. They collaborated and wrote a curriculum that she is implementing this school year. She networked with the Educational Outreach Coordinator to plan Engineering Lab field trips for middle school students to create an awareness for engineering career exploration. Lesher is the pilot school for this initiative. Congrats Sherise!

To help streamline drop-off and pick-up, please adhere to Lesher’s Traffic Safety. The area directly in front of the main entrance is designated to busses only. The main entrance and cafeteria entrance are the only entry points to the building; however, during school hours, you must come through the front office.

Drivers:

• Slowdown

• PULL FORWARD in the drop-off/pick-up area

• Yield to pedestrians & crossing guards in crosswalks

• DO NOT BLOCK the roadway, bicycle lanes, handicap spaces, bus entrances, or driveways

• NO parking, stopping, or standing at RED CURBS

Bicyclists/Skateboarders

• Bicycles should use bicycle lanes & obey traffic laws • Dismount your bicycle/ skateboard on the sidewalk in front of the school and walk • Secure your bicycle/skateboard on the racks at the north side of the school

Pedestrians

• Use crosswalks

• Make eye contact with drivers prior to crossing

This year, make sure everything is up to date before you start your school year! Lesher will have their health tech available during "Check-in" and "Back to School" to answer questions and take medications prior to the start of school so that your student can start the year off ready!

Here's two tips from the health office:

1. All medications, prescription and non-prescription, require forms to be completed. Please review the "Procedures for Medications" and have your doctor complete and SIGN the "Authorization and Release" form found in this link: https://www.psdschools.org/programs-services/medications-health-action-plans

Dropping off an item?

Please follow the above protocol. You will be let in the vestibule. Please write down your child's name and grade on a label and stick it to the item then place on the shelf provided.
