POSITIVITY PROJECT
The Positivity Project
The Positivity Project is a resource to empower students to build positive relationships and become their best selves. The Positivity Project trait we will learning about next week is Open Mindedness. The following week the Positivity Project trait we will study is OPM-Being present and giving others my attention. We are very excited to provide consistent instruction to help students enhance their self-awareness, self-confidence, understanding and appreciation of others, and interpersonal relationships.
P2-Curiosity-2nd Grade: Mrs LeGal & Mrs. Vicicondi
Second grade students worked on Curiosity in the hallway with their teachers Mrs. LeGal and Mrs. Vicicondi.
This week our P2 character trait was curiosity. Second graders showed examples of being curious by asking wondering questions about what they think would happen with the ingredients (baking soda, food coloring, and vinegar) when combined. The result: RAINBOW BUBBLES!
IMPORTANT ON ARRIVAL TIME
Arrival Time
Just a reminder that students can enter the building at 7:30AM. Students are marked late if they are arriving after 7:40. We do the pledge promptly and it is disruptive during this morning announcement, to the teacher and to the classroom.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Introducing our new Special Education Teacher at Swartz School
Meet Gianna Grippo
Please welcome Special Education Teacher Gianna Grippo. Gianna teaches at Salt Creek Primary and Stella May Swartz.
Her hobbies are shopping, reading books, working out, drinking coffee, hanging out with friends and family, and going for walks.
Gianna's interest in becoming a Special Education Teacher started in high school when she helped out in a special education classroom. She absolutely loved it and looked forward to it everyday! She loves seeing and helping students succeed!!
AWESOME ALL-STAR CERTIFICATE
Awesome All- Star Certificates
When our classrooms are caught on their best behavior as a group effort or everyone turning in homework as a whole class to just being in a straight line in the hall they receive an Awesome All Star Certificate from anyone in the building. The certificate is then brought to the office for Mrs.Trexler to announce in the morning announcements of whose class received one. She will then let everyone know of a surprise fun plan activity for 5 to 10 min at some free time in the day. Our students cover the walls in their classrooms every year from their good behavior. We have started out the year with 3 so far........ Shout out to Ms. Oyen's Class, Mrs. Le Gal's Class & Mrs. Jurgutis's Class!
Mrs. Le Gal's Class
Mrs. Le Gal's class earned Heads Up & Up for their Awesome All -Star Certificate!
2ND GRADE SCIENCE
2nd grade scientists wonder about how salt makes water more bouyant. Mrs. Le Gal & Mrs. Vicicondi's 2nd grade class love doing these experiments together!
HAVE YOU USED MATH?✖️➕➖➗
Have You Used Math Today?
We use math every day! As students enter the building, they are reminded of how we use math every day. Big thanks to Mrs. Bauers, our math specialist, for creating our math posters!
VIKING VICTORIES
Viking Victories
Students are walking laps outside at recess time. For every lap they walk they receive a popsicle stick. Once they collect 10 they will get their picture on a gym shoe, it will then be hung in the gym and receive a charm for every 10 popsicle sticks turned in to their teacher. The student's are loving it! They are even getting the Lunch Supervisor's to join them!

I LOVE YOU GUYS ❤️
Standard Response Protocol
Salt Creek District 48 has adopted a new emergency protocol response from the I Love U Guys Foundation. This is a program that has been adopted by many of the schools within DuPage County. Over the summer, the administrative team attended training on the protocol and is passing along the training to all staff. We also want to make families aware of the five different protocols so you can be familiar with the language you may hear your child or the school use.
