Take Home Tuesday - August 22nd
Be Responsible. Be Respectful. Be Safe.
Love. Joy. Peace. Patience. Kindness. Goodness. Faithfulness. Gentleness. Self-control.
Happy first full week of school, Cardinals!
Shout out to all of the families and friends of St. Cecilia who volunteered, stopped by and marched in the parade at Dundee Day last weekend. Thank you SO much for coming out to support our school in the community!
There are a lot of firsts for us all this week, including:
- Excessive Heat Warning - Classes will stay inside if the "feels like" temperature is 92 or above, provide frequent breaks for water and to rest from any physical activity.
- Spirit day (Wednesdays) - Uniform bottoms with a St. Cecilia t-shirt or team uniform top!
- Instrument Display Night (8/23) - Visit the St. Cecilia Graham Building (NW door) from 7-8:30 PM to check out the different instruments and band information.
- All School Mass for K - 8 (Thursdays) - Below is our schedule for the entire school year. Family members are welcome to join us after checking in at the front office! This week we will celebrate the Feast of Saint Bartholomew, the Apostle!
- STAR Standardized Testing (now until Sept. 15) - Our standardized testing window is open for the Fall time frame.
- Volleyball Games (starting 8/25) - ABC is looking for volunteers to operate the concession stand, admission window and scoreboard. Click here for dates and times to help out!
- Roots & Shoots (starting 8/25) - A service-oriented group for grades 6-8 which meets from 3:15 - 4 PM on Monday (6th), Wednesday (7th) and Friday (8th).
- Fire Drill (8/28) - We will be practicing how to safely exit the building in case of a fire emergency on Monday, August 28th. Typically notification will only be sent to parents afterwards.
As we celebrate Mass together this week, the Gospel we will read is John 1:45-51. This part of the scripture from the book of John talks about Jesus calling his first disciples. In these verses, Nathanael (Bartholomew) is skeptical of Jesus, especially because He is from Nazareth which was considered a lowly and insignificant place.
This is a great reminder to all of us that no matter where we come from or no matter what we have done (or have yet to do!), Jesus is still there calling us to come and follow him. How will you follow Jesus this week?
