Mill Valley Weekly
Thursday, April 15th, 2021
Hello Mill Valley Families,
We have had a great week at Mill Valley "Changing the World...Making a Difference for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society". Don't forget, tomorrow, we will celebrate Earth Day by having a "no trash picnic". Pack your child's cold lunch in reusable containers. Hot lunch will also be available as a "no trash lunch".
Our 3rd & 4th graders will begin taking the Forward Exam next week. Please see the details listed below. We would like to thank you in advance for preparing our students for this big test. Research shows that getting a good's night sleep and having a healthy breakfast can set the stage for success.
Sincerely,
Robin Schrot, Principal
Allyce Harris, Associate Principal

Optional COVID Testing at School
As an optional service to parents, MNS has partnered with Summit Clinical Laboratories (SCL) to provide COVID-19 PCR Testing at our schools should a parent be interested and give permission in the following situations:
- Student becomes ill at school prior to going home
- Student is under a quarantine, is asymptomatic, and it is Day 6 or after (drive-up only, please call your school health office first to arrange)
Upon receiving permission from a parent, MNS will acquire the sample from the student and send it to SCL for processing. Parents will receive an email notification of results from SCL, typically later that same day. MNS will also receive results.
For those parents interested in this service, parents will need to provide MNS with the following:
- Signed INFORMED CONSENT prior to sample acquisition. Copies of this document will be available at the school and online (MNS Health Services, Parent FAQ)
- Copy of Insurance Card (if insured) OR student’s social security number (required by federal law under the CARES Act)
A few considerations when determining if this service is right for your family:
- COVID-19 TESTS ARE AT NO COST
- If a student receives a negative result, they may return to school once feeling well enough
- If a student is in a quarantine and the Day 6 result is negative, they may return to school on Day 8 if all other criteria are met, and a 7-Day COVID-19 Quarantine Application for Students has been submitted and approved by MNS Health Services.
Staff Appreciation Week (May 3rd-7th)
If you would like to donate monetarily to support the effort, please send a check or cash to school or via Venmo at @Mill-Valley-1. Please indicate on any donations “Staff Appreciation Week”.
We will be raffling off gift baskets on Friday as a fun end to the week! Each staff member will get 5 free tickets to put in whatever basket they choose. If you would like to put together a fun basket for the raffle, please contact MV PTO for pick up or drop off info.
If you have any further input, please email us at millvalleymuskegopto@gmail.com.
