Earn Early Off Periods through Independent Study Course
Earn Eligiblity for Early Off Periods
Greetings Class of 2024,
I am Jon Spiering, Associate Principal of Terry High School and I am excited to share this opportunity with our rising seniors.
We at B.F. Terry hope that you all are enjoying an eventful, safe, and relaxing final summer as a high school student! In a few short weeks, seniors will return to school for one more year of learning and preparation for life after high school. As you plan for the upcoming school year, we would like to remind you that you must be classified as college-ready in both English and math to qualify for an early off period.
If you are receiving this communication, you have yet to earn this designation in both subjects. To help you gain an off period before school starts, we are offering an opportunity for you to earn your college-ready designation through our Texas College Bridge Independent Study program. Please review the information below for more details:
Format
- Participants will be enrolled in a College Preparatory Course for English Language Arts and/or Mathematics.
- Students will be expected to work independently toward expected mastery of the TCB College Prep Course(s)
- No grades will be assigned
Dates
- Virtual: July 10th – July 28th
- Face-to-Face: July 17th – July 28th
- Starting July 17th, an open lab will be offered on campus Monday – Thursday from 8:30am – 12:30pm.
All courses must be completed by July 28th.
- Texas College Bridge will reset the progress of all incomplete courses on July 29th.
- Students who do not complete their assigned course(s) will complete the Texas College Bridge during their senior English and/or math class.
Students, if you are currently enrolled in a Texas College Bridge course this summer, please continue to work through the modules. Please make sure to pace yourself so that you will have everything completed by July 28th.
If you have yet to enroll, there is still plenty of time to earn your college-ready designation. Please complete the link below to log your interest and we will make sure to enroll you in the appropriate course.

Summer always moves quick, so log your interest today so that you can maximize the time you have to work on your course. Please email me, Mr. Spiering, at jspiering@lcisd.org if you have any questions. Thank you.
What is the Texas College Bridge:
The Texas College Bridge provides free, online, personalized College Preparatory Math and English courses to juniors and seniors to build college readiness skills, and upon successful completion allows students to enroll directly into college courses at institutions of higher education (IHE) that have partnered with the Texas College Bridge or with individual ISDs for the College Preparatory courses.
The Texas College Bridge provides College Preparatory English and Mathematics courses in an online format that allows districts the flexibility to offer it in several formats to meet individual student learning needs. Texas College Bridge courses also help districts in earning CCMR credit towards their A-F accountability. The EdReady platform that Texas College Bridge uses provides both instructors and administrators with dashboards to track each student’s progress towards mastering the identified college readiness skills. Instructors can easily identify areas that need intervention and provide the supports students need.
Mastering math and English skills that colleges want is not all that is needed to help students transition successfully to a postsecondary institute, so the Texas College Bridge provides college and career resources for students and training materials for district/campus staff. Students can complete online modules that focus on key college transition milestones to help ensure a smoother transition to a higher education institution.

Dear Parents/Guardians,
For the 2023-2024 school year, all required Lamar Consolidated ISD beginning-of-year forms must be completed online through the Skyward Family Access Center.
Offering these forms digitally allows you the convenience of only updating information that has changed from last school year while also helping us maintain accurate information in our student information system. Instructions, essential dates, and technical assistance regarding the online forms can be found by scanning the QR Codes below.
Online forms will be available through the Family Access Center starting July 26th, and all forms need to be submitted by August 9th to view your student's online schedule. Your student's schedule will be available online through the Family Access Center once all of the beginning-of-year forms are completed for your student and after the campus has released schedules. Student schedules will be available online on Wednesday, August 9th, if all online forms have been completed.
For those who need access to a computer or the Internet,
