MHM BOOK LAUNCH EVENT
Three Books, One Afternoon!
You are invited to our book launch event!
This free event at 2 pm, Saturday, August 25, features three book launches. Two of them are also memoir. Selma Kornelsen Hooge’s Life Before Canada tells the astonishing story of her family fleeing the Soviet Union along with retreating German soldiers during World War II. Finding refugee sponsors to bring the family to Canada is a miraculous story of its own.
Second, Helene Rempel Klassen has translated from German the incredible narrative of her cousin Elisabeth (Liesl) Löwen, who endured forced labour and stark privation in Stalin’s totalitarian state. The extraordinary life reflection, I Remember: A Memoir by Elisabeth Löwen, will be presented by Neil Klassen of Judson Lake House Publishing.
Finally, Vanessa Voth will launch her new novel, The Girl from No. 6: based on a true story. This powerful work of creative nonfiction narrates the story of Mennonites who escaped the violence of post-Revolution Russia, only to endure harsh new beginnings in the wilds of Paraguay. This book is Mennonite memoir as well, but told in the form of a novel.
