A Message from the Principal

Dear Sward Families,

As the year goes on and the weather grows colder, we will have more and more drivers for arrival and dismissal. For safety and efficiency, please follow the procedures of the "drop-off zones." If you would like to park your car and walk your child to their line, please pull to the other side of the street or pull to a parking zone.

Additionally, we have staff members that travel between buildings and need parking spots in our staff parking lot. Please refrain from parking in the staff parking lot. Also, for the safety of our children, please refrain from walking your children to their line through the parking lot. It will be much safer to stay on the sidewalk and the students will form the good habit of staying on the sidewalks. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students safe.

Fall Family Family Conferences

Family Conferences will be held over a series of two days:

Oct 12th from 5:00pm - 8:00pm
Oct 13th from 11:30am - 6:30pm

Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 Family Conferences will be completely scheduled online via Skyward and families will have the opportunity to select either an in-person or phone conference.

K-5 families will have the opportunity to schedule conferences with their student's grade-level teacher, encore staff, and specialists.
6-8 families will have the opportunity to schedule conferences with their student's advisory teacher, encore staff, and specialists.

Beginning on September 28th at 10:00 am and Ending on October 9th at 11:59 pm families can log into Skyward Family Access and pick their family conference time and date. Below you will find a series of resources to answer any questions you may have about Skyward Family Access and as always, you can contact your school office if you have any additional questions about scheduling or a family conference:

Student Council Service Initiative

Sward Student Council invites you to support the Maui Food Bank during the week of September 25 - 29. We are collecting donations, every $1 that you donate will go directly to the Maui Food Bank. We will end our week with a Hawaiian Spirit Day on Friday, September 29th.

PTA's Donuts with Dudes

PTA is hosting "Donuts with Dudes" on Wednesday, 9/27/23. You can enjoy your donut and quality time with your child in the main gym anytime from 7:30 - 8:10 a.m. Due to the limited parking walking is recommended if you are able to do so.

It's that time of year again... time to enjoy taffy apples! Yum! Click here for a copy of the PTA Affy Tapple sale form. Mark your calendars: Order forms are due Tuesday, October 10th (no late orders will be accepted). Pick up will be Thursday, October 19th.

Attendance Procedures

Attendance and punctuality are important. The bell rings for the students to enter the building at 8:25 a.m. and school begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. Please click HERE for attendance procedures.

Visitor Aware Pre-Registration

Safety is always our Priority at District 123. Please use this quick and easy registration link to set up your visitor information that allows you to visit Sward.Once you complete the registration, you will receive a QR code via text or email that allows you to enter the building.
