Student Supports
We have been collecting data to help us support students in meeting our school behavior expectations. If your child needs additional supports we will be reaching out and communicating next steps. We appreciate your support in helping Second Street be the best place for students to learn and grow.
PTSA
The PTSA Needs Your Help!
It is our hope that each grade is represented during the Fall Festival with a game. The kids all voted for favorite games on Aug. 25, and the following were selected by grade:
- Preschool: Duck Pond
- Kindergarten: Going Fishing
- 1st: Candy Corn Ring Toss
- 2nd: Knock Down the Tower
- 3rd: Pumpkin Paper
- 4th: Sweep the Pumpkin
- 5th: Sack Races
- 6th: Punch Cups
- 7th: Football Toss
- 8th: Dunk Tank
If you have agreed to be a grade representative and have not yet contacted Jordan Watts regarding status updates on individual assignments, please reach out to her by Sept. 4.
We still need grade representatives for the 2nd, 4th, and 6th grades. These individuals are responsible for overseeing the execution of festival games. The PTSA will provide a photographed example and list of all materials needed for the setup and directions on how to play. If you are willing to serve in this role, please email sssfrankfort@gmail.com.
If you would like to donate your time in another way, we need volunteers to work the games in 30-minute slots during the event.
Unfortunately, any game that does not have volunteers by Thursday, Sept. 7, will be removed from the lineup of activities available at the event.

Summit Learning Training Course for Guardians
Sept. 7, 5:30 p.m., SSS Cafeteria
The Second Street School PTSA is hosting a training led by Mrs. Emily Clatos and Mr. Joe Rogers to discuss Summit Learning, a comprehensive approach to teaching that is designed to boost student engagement using an online environment. Second Street School students start utilizing this program in the fourth grade. If your student is new to Summit Learning, we encourage you to attend this special training created to help guardians understand how to monitor student progress throughout the year.
This training course will provide a detailed overview of Summit Learning, teach parents how to interact with the program, and answer any questions.
Mark your calendars!
Summit Learning Training Course for Guardians: Thursday, Sept. 7, 5:30 p.m., at the SSS cafeteria
Picture Day: Wednesday, Sept. 13
The Fall Festival: Saturday, Sept. 16, 4 - 7 p.m., at Second Street School
May the best door win!
Teachers have been invited to participate in a fall-themed, decorating contest of classroom doors. Decorations must be completed by noon on Friday, Sept. 8. SSS families can vote online for a favorite, and the winner will be announced at the Fall Festival.
Guardian & Student Membership
The PTSA is focused on growing membership and reaching all Second Street School families. Please be on the lookout for a PTSA flier in your student’s backpack with information on becoming a member and opportunities to support the PTSA. If you have yet to join the PTSA, it’s not too late! Complete the membership application and connect with us today.
Also, Student Leadership Chair Anthony Robinson will start recruiting students in 6th-8th grades to join the PTSA. If your middle school student is interested in becoming a member, please reach out to sssfrankfort@gmail.com. Student members will be involved in assisting with special events and activities and serving as a voice for the student body. Spirit week is just around the corner, and we need the help of students to execute a successful event.
Teacher Members
In order for the PTSA to be successful, we need the participation of SSS teachers. The involvement of these individuals is vital, and we sincerely hope that as many as possible will become members. If you are a SSS teacher and interested in joining the PTSA, please complete the membership application.
School Volunteers
We are continuing our efforts to get guardians through the approval process and appreciate your patience. If you signed up to volunteer, please check your email for a message from Jill Stoltz regarding next steps. If you have not heard from us, please reach out to sssfrankfort@gmail.com.
Improving Communication
The PTSA is designed to deliver important information to families, teachers, and community members but also to receive feedback from these parties and serve as advocates. In addition to working towards the establishment of effective communication channels and spaces, we are identifying neighborhood representatives within our district to act as liaisons between the PTSA and those we serve. If you are interested in becoming a representative, please email us at sssfrankfort@gmail.com. Let’s work together to elevate voices!
Fundraising
Ask your friends and family to join in supporting these efforts!
Our most successful fundraising effort is through the Kroger Community Rewards Program, and the process to join is simple! All you need is a Kroger Shoppers Card to enroll.
Visit the Kroger Community Rewards website and follow the steps to link your Kroger Shoppers Card to our school. After enrolling, every time you shop at Kroger and use your card a small percentage of your purchases goes to support the Second Street School PTSA.
Sponsorships
Are you interested in becoming a PTSA sponsor? There are several sponsorship opportunities available, and we would love to hear from you. Sponsor donations, along with our Kroger Community Rewards, help to fund the PTSA committee work that supports our school. Please complete this form, and we will reach out with more information.
Apply to Volunteer
The PTSA oversees the volunteer program for Second Street School. Anyone wishing to serve as a volunteer must complete a screening process. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please email sssfrankfort@gmail.com
The next PTSA General Meeting is Nov. 14, 2023, at 6 p.m. Location TBD. Stay tuned!
