Eighteen PYLUSD Seniors Named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists
The Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District is proud to announce that 18 seniors have been identified as Semifinalists in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Competition! This includes two students from El Dorado High, nine students from Valencia High, and seven students from Yorba Linda High.
Esperanza High School Celebrates 50 Years of Tradition and Excellence
In late August, Esperanza High School celebrated its 50th anniversary! The campus first opened its doors in 1973 to serve the needs of a growing local population. It was named after the Spanish word Esperanza, which means "hope" in English. It was the belief that the word hope characterized the motivation of settlers in the area, whether as early as the Yorba and the Ontiveros families, or those who came to make the citrus and oil industries possible.
Students in PYLUSD Served Over Three Million Free and Nutritious School Meals During the 2022-2023 Year
As a result of California’s universal school meals program, and other state and federal initiatives, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District offered free meals to all students throughout the 2022-2023 school year. Cafeterias across the district were able to serve over 3.1 million breakfast, lunch, and after-school meals to TK-12 students at no cost to families.
