A Note from Mrs. Pitts: A Little Homework
Assembly!
Last Friday, we had our first celebration assembly. This was a time that our students were able to come together to hear common messages and celebrate being a student at RES! Our World Language Teacher, Caitlin Piper, presented an original song in a music video and we wanted to share it with all of you! Please know that we understand everyone cannot make it to our assemblies so we will do everything we can to present pieces that you can rewatch and enjoy with your children at home.

Principal's Advisory Council:
This year I will be bringing back the PRINCIPAL'S ADVISORY COUNCIL. This is a group of parents, teachers and community members who will come together to discuss current school topics and initiatives. For example, this group may consider ways to celebrate our National Blue Ribbon award or talk about ways in which we can celebrate and recognize the diversity within our school community. Although these are just a couple of thoughts, we will build our topics as a team.
Dates: 10/12, 11/2, 1/11, 3/21, 5/23
Please email me if you are interested!
Who Are Our Families?:
In an effort to recognize and celebrate all the ways in which our R.E.S. families are unique, please take a minute or two to complete the following form! Your participation is optional. We want to know more about our students and celebrate who they are so we thought we would start with all of you!
Have an amazing weekend!
Michelle Pitts, Principal

Thank you Portsmouth High!
For a service learning project, several students from Portsmouth high School came to weed and spread mulch in our future Kindergarten Alphabet Garden! This was a HUGE project and a huge help to us. We can't wait to get started.

Note from Mrs. Warden
PE notes:
Parents THANK YOU for helping your children remember to bring sneakers on PE days.
Sneakers with a full back are the safest footwear for students to be wearing. Crocs should not be worn for PE classes.
Water Bottles are a great way for students to stay hydrated throughout the day. Proper use and expectations have been reviewed. (Holding them right side up, not squirting water at yourself or others are two common examples).

REF: Rye Educational Foundation Needs Help!
The Rye Education Foundation funds unique educational opportunities for Rye students.
In a typical year, the interest earned from its $1 million endowment with the New Hampshire
Charitable Foundation allows REF to grant approximately $40,000 to RES and RJH, which
funds programs requested by teachers, staff and principals. During the 2022/23 school year
REF funded 23 grants for a total of $71,778! REF is looking for Grants Committee volunteers to work with teachers in both Rye schools. On the Grants Committee, volunteers have the opportunity to communicate directly and build relationships with teachers and staff. It is a great way to get involved with our two incredible schools.
To explore some of the grants funded by REF through the years, please check out our website
www.RyeEducationFoundation.org. We also invite any interested parents to join us at this year’s kick-off meeting with the REF Board and Grants Committee on the evening of Monday,
September 18th.
For more information about volunteer opportunities with REF and the meeting
details, email co-chairs Katie Jones and Stephanie Tabit at refgrantscommittee@gmail.com.
Thank you for your interest in the Rye Education Foundation!
