Holiday Spirit Week
East Fallowfield Tree Lighting
On Saturday evening, our chorus members attended and performed at the East Fallowfield Township Tree lighting. In addition to the performance, the tree was decorated with ornaments made by our students! Thank you to Ms. Willgruber for facilitating the ornament making in art class! A huge thank you to Mrs. Mullen for preparing and organizing our chorus members on a Saturday night for this continued community partnership event.
Winter Choral Concert
East Fallowfield's winter choral concert was held last Thursday, December 7th at 7:00 pm in our gymnasium. Earlier that day, the chorus put on a school performance and we had a very special visitor. Our Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Cathy Van Vooren was in attendance!
Our student performers put on a great show for a packed house!! Congratulations to our choral director, Mrs. April Mullen, for putting together an amazing show! We are all feeling ready for the holidays after that performance! We look forward to seeing the chorus perform again in the Spring.
East Fallowfield Spelling Bee
On Tuesday, East Fallowfield held our annual spelling bee. We are so very proud of all of our contestants who worked so hard to represent their class and grade levels. We also want to thank three of our retired EF teachers, Mrs. Buohl, Mrs. Popovich and Mrs. Chidester, who served as our spelling bee judges. Lastly, a huge shout out to our amazing Reading Specialist, Mrs. DiSands for doing such a great job in organizing the event.
It was a close race at every grade level, but listed here are this year's winners! These students will move on to the district spelling bee at Rainbow Elementary in January.
Third grade winners: 1st place - Jayceon Navarro, 2nd place - Conner Fink, Alternate: Sophie Walker

STEM Corner
Last week, third grade students were in for quite an adventure; they had to save a tiger! In their Project Lead the Way curriculum, students joined the characters Angelina, Mylo, and Suzi on a field trip to the zoo and were faced with the design problem of how to rescue a trapped tiger. Students then applied their knowledge of forces to devise a way to rescue a heavy zoo animal while keeping it safe throughout the process. Throughout the unit, students explored simple machines such as wheels and axles, levers, inclined planes, and more. They also investigated the effects of balanced and unbalanced forces on the motion of an object.
5th Grade Field Trip
Last week our fifth graders traveled to the People's Light Theater for a performance of A Christmas Carol. Our students and teachers enjoyed the show and our students were following all of our Big East expectations of S.O.A.R. Prior to the field trip, a representative came out to meet with our 5th graders to prepare them for the show. We are thankful for our continued partnership with People's Light.
