Message from East Hill Principal
Dear East Hill Elementary School Families,
We had a fantastic first week of school at East Hill! Our students worked on learning the routines of school and their classrooms while making new friends. We ended our first week with our Positivity Project and Wildcat WOW Assembly this morning! We had our fabulous EH bus drivers attend as guests of honor along with the WG Wildcat!
We are looking forward to seeing our parents/guardians on Wednesday evening at our EH Curriculum and Title 1 Night (please see the details below). We will be running two shuttle buses throughout the evening from the St. Joseph’s Church parking lot to East Hill. These buses will begin running at 5:45 and the last shuttle will leave East Hill at 7:30. There will be very limited parking in the neighborhood surrounding East Hill School.
I want to thank all of our East Hill families for your continued support and patience as we worked through the beginning of the year slight transportation delays. Our buses are arriving earlier each day. Our first priority is getting our Wildcats to and from school safely. We work closely with our wonderful drivers and transportation department to ensure the best experience possible.
Have a great weekend!
~Susan
Curriculum and Title 1 Night
East Hill will host our Curriculum/Title 1 Night on Wednesday, September 13. This is an excellent opportunity to hear from your teacher regarding your child's academic day (curriculum and instruction, procedures, protocols, and expectations)!
Please note this night is for parents and guardians only.
Grades K-2: 6:00 pm -6:30 pm
Grades 3-4: 6:45 pm-7:15 pm
Our instructional support team will be available in the library to discuss any questions regarding student academic support or interventions from 6:15 pm-7:15 pm
A shuttle will be available, as parking will be limited, at St. Joseph's Church. Shuttles will run from 5:45 pm -7:30 pm.
School Expectations
We continue to teach and review our school behavior expectations, or rules, in all settings in and out of the building: Be respectful, Be responsible, Be safe. We have some incentives to motivate students. Be sure to ask your child about our Wildcat Wows!
Safety Drills
In the coming days we will practice safety drills and protocols. Students are receptive and responsible while we practice how to evacuate the building in a timely manner.
Universal Screening
All students (Grade 1-4) will be screened in the subject areas of literacy and math next week. Grade level teams and staff will utilize the data collected to help drive our instruction when looking at our interventions and extensions as a part of our Multi Tiered System of Support, known as Team Time, which is a block where each student receives Tier II instruction.

New Website and Mobile App
We have redesigned the West Genesee website and took into consideration the information shared in the results of the survey we distributed in June. It is now easier to find items directly related to your school from that school's homepage. It is also very mobile responsive and easy to find items from your phone.
In addition to the new website, we are also launching a new mobile phone app to communicate to students, parents, and community members about West Genesee news, upcoming events, and other important information. The West Genny app is available to download free from the Apple App store or the Google Play store. For more information about the mobile app, click here to view a video about the app.
This app is different from your ParentVUE app which you will continue to use to communicate with teachers, check on schedules, and other items that relate directly to your specific child(ren).
