October Newsletter
A Message from Dr. Drummond and Mrs. Strack
Despite the circumstances of being in a pandemic, our school continues to thrive. We would like to extend our gratitude to our students, parents, and faculty and staff. Together, everyone has worked extremely hard to ensure we stay focused on what matters most; our students.
During the first few months of school, much has been accomplished. We have kicked off our PTO Chocolate Fundraiser, completed out first MAP assessment, celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month, began our Helping Hands program, and kicked off our school wide reading incentive program. West End was recognized at the September school board meeting for being named a Family-Friendly Partnership School by the Georgia Department of Education, and we also received two generous donations from Publix and Vargo Orthodontics.
The month of October includes several exciting events as well. Many grade levels will attend their first field trip, we will have our first PBIS celebration, and host the WEE Spooky Sprint. We are looking forward to a fun month of learning, growing, and celebrating the many successes at West End.
Sincerely,
Dr. Drummond and Mrs. Strack

Hispanic Heritage Month: Ways We Celebrate
School Newspaper: The Warrior Gazette
The 6th Grade Challenge students are picking up the tradition of writing our Warrior Gazette once again this year. To pay for our papers to be printed at the Rome News Tribune, we need to sell subscriptions. The students have delivered subscription flyers. Students plan to print 9 editions this school year. If students purchase a subscription, they get one newspaper free. The subscriptions cost $4.00 for the year while individual papers cost 50 cents. They will receive one free newspaper when purchasing the full year subscription.
PBIS UPDATES
Beginning the 2nd 9 weeks (October 18th), students will transition to earning points in an online platform known as PBIS Rewards. Students will need to earn 100 points to attend the 2nd 9 weeks celebration. Students can earn points each day from any teacher or staff member in our school. The points are attached to our school wide behavior expectations: PAWS - Positive Attitude, Acting Responsibly, Working Hard, and Showing Respect.
