Lit Masters Book Club is Up and Running!
DPMS has a new all school book club: Lit Masters! All students are encouraged to join us as we meet monthly to discuss a book as a whole group. During February, we read Unwind by Neal Shusterman, a dystopian novel about a society where parents have the choice to "unwind" their children at age 13. What is "unwinding?" In this society if parents no longer want their children, they may choose to have their organs donated to another person so that their children's bodies may "live on". Prior to our March meeting, we will be reading either Jack's Run by Roland Smith or Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter by Seth Grahame-Smith. See Mrs. Young if you would like to join our group and participate in the discussion.
Thanks for a great DPMS Battle Showdown!
DPMS just wrapped up its 2015-16 Battle of the Books season. Thank you to all of the students who participated during this very successful year. On February 17, nine teams competed in a school showdown to determine who would represent DPMS at the state Battle of the Books competition on February 23. Congratulations to Peyton, Mallory, Hannah, and Violet, the winners of our school battle who moved on to compete at State. Battle of the Books is sponsored by WEMTA- the Wisconsin Educational Media and Technology Association.

Spanish Students Hangout!
8th graders in Ms. Bravick's Spanish classes had a unique opportunity to practice their language skills. In early January, students met via Google Hangouts with another Spanish class from Hillsborough, NJ and engaged in small group conversations where they took turns asking and answering one another questions in Spanish. This provided an excellent chance for students to practice the skills that they learned in class as well as gave them an introduction to communicating digitally through Hangouts. Students loved learning more about others from another part of the USA!
