The elementary leadership team, the Buffalo Crew, volunteered in elementary classrooms on October 28th. They played bingo with students. They did a great job helpings kids, being the caller, and handing out prizes.

As we move into fall and it gets colder out please make sure your students are appropriately dressed. All students go outside everyday unless it is -10 degrees below windchill.

**Start preparing for winter weather too as it could come earlier than anticipated.

These students are working on progressing their learning towards the ND state standards as well as maintaining positive behavior in alignment with their teacher's expectations. In other words, they received mostly 2's, 3's and 4's on their report cards!

Make sure to label student's items with their names or initials so they can be easily identified if they lose them.

October wrapped up with bully prevention and Red Ribbon Week. Students learned to identify bullying, how to report bullying, and replacement behaviors that can lead to a healthier them and healthier school. We will continue to work on those skills through the upcoming months. The month of November is focusing on Career exploration and setting goals. Although prek-6th grade might not be known for a time of career development, their career exploration at this age is so important. We will identify careers that they are thinking about as well as explore some that they may not have ever heard from! We are also going to set some goals as the first quarter came to an end they have a better idea of some areas of growth that they would like to see within themselves.

Mrs. Shelby Adam earned her degree in music education from Minot State University. She has been teaching music to students at Minnewaukan Public School since the start of her career in 2018 and really feels she has found her place here with the kids. Singing, dancing, instrument playing, critical thinking, music history, and music literacy are some of the many concepts that make up Mrs. Adam’s music-filled days with the students in grades PreK-6. She is also teaching reading to students in grades 2-6. The small town of Maddock is home to her family, which includes her husband, her son, two cats, and a dog. Hello! My name is Mrs. Amy Ertelt. I teach Pre-K at Minnewaukan Public School. This is my 14th year teaching at Minnewaukan and my 21st. year overall. I graduated from Valley City State University with a major in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood and a credential in Early Childhood Special Education from the University of Mary. I live in Devils Lake with my husband and two children, Mattyson who is 16 years old and Jaxon who is going to be 12 years old. I absolutely love teaching 3,4, and 5 year olds. Everyday is a new adventure and a blessing to experience with them.

Each grade level will be eligible to receive student of the month.

They will be recognized on the school website and FB page as well as receive a small reward for their accomplishment.

Student engagement staff will look for when nominating a student of the month:

• Good Attendance!
• Completion of Work!
• Collaborates well with peers and staff!
• Follows school expectations!
