In This Edition of the SPS Weekly Newsletter...
From the Desk of the Superintendent
Thank you to all of the families, staff, and community members who attended both virtual forums that were held on Thursday about the new elementary school building project. There was a lot of important information shared during these forums and we answered many great questions from the participants. If you missed it, or would like to see it again, you can watch the videos by clicking on the buttons below:
You can also go on a virtual flythrough and see what the new elementary school building in Stoughton would look like. DRA Architects created this preview video, which was shown during the virtual forums. It shows both exterior and interior renderings of the building. A rendering of the exterior front entrance is also featured in the header photo at the top of the newsletter.
Finally, if you would like to view the slideshow presentation from the virtual forums, click here.
More information about the new elementary school can be found on the project website.
Enjoy the weekend and I hope to see some of our families at my virtual parent/guardian meeting on Wednesday, January 31 at 9:30am.

Wishing Joyce Husseini a Happy Retirement!
We want to congratulate Joyce Husseini, the Stoughton Public Schools Director of Facilities and Grounds, on her retirement! Joyce has been in this position for the past five years, overseeing the maintenance of our buildings and transportation of our students, as well as managing the custodial and maintenance staff.
Prior to working at SPS, Joyce served on the Stoughton School Committee for two terms from 2010-2016, including time as chairperson, and also served on the Facilities Master Plan Committee.
Joyce's calm demeanor has provided a steadying presence at the district office and her knowledge of all SPS buildings is unrivaled. While we will miss seeing Joyce around the office on a daily basis, she won't be going too far. Joyce will be staying on in a part-time capacity to assist with the transition process as well as provide guidance for the new elementary school building project and other projects across the district that are currently underway.
Thank you for all of your contributions to SPS and enjoy the start of your (semi) retirement!
SHS Boys Basketball Team Bonds with Wilkins First Graders
The Stoughton High boys varsity basketball team won its game at Milford Tuesday evening 83-70, but they were already winners off the court for what they did earlier in the day. Head coach Evan Taylor brought the varsity team to the Wilkins Elementary School where players spent the morning visiting first grade classrooms, reading with students and interacting with them. Take a look at pictures of the team visiting Mrs. Craven's class. More pictures can be found here.
Diversity at the Dawe Celebration Night
The Dawe School held its Diversity Celebration Night on Wednesday where families could check out a number of different workshops to learn about other cultures and try many types of delicious foods from around the world! Take a look at a few pictures here. Many more pictures will be shared next week on the Stoughton Public Schools Facebook page!
