Important Safety Concern
In the mornings please drop students off in the front of the school (Northside at the light entrance) no earlier than 7:30am. Some students participate in an activity that requires them to arrive earlier however that activity is supervised by the director or coach. Teachers go on duty at 7:50am around campus therefore, students arriving from 7:30am-7:50am need to report to the cafeteria where we will have a staff person on duty during those times. School starts promptly at 8:20am.
In the afternoon school ends at 3:25pm with most tutoring ending by 4:15pm. Therefore, students need to be picked up by 4:15pm unless they are participating in an activity that keeps them on campus longer with a teacher, director or coach supervising them.
Our posted speed limit on campus is 10 MPH. I have received several concerned emails and phone calls about that speed limit being ignored. The 10 MPH is posted for the safety of all of our students. I am asking kindly for your help adhering to that speed limit while on our campus.
On behalf of the staff, I thank you for assisting us in our safety practices for the benefit of our students. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us keep our students safe.

Ian's Cup Soccer:
Ian's Foundation was created in the memory of Ian Fincke. Ian tragically passed away at the age of 16, in October of 2008 as the result of fatal wounds sustained during a skateboarding accident. Ian was a previous student at Hardy Oak Elementary, Barbara Bush Middle School and both Reagan and Johnson High Schools. The foundation was formed to advance the safety and welfare of San Antonio youth through education and scholarship awards. To date over $29,000 in scholarships has been awarded. Ian's Foundation also promotes helmet safety in the San Antonio and surrounding area and supports STRAPS (South Texas Regional and Paralympic Sports). STRAPS was inspired by Ian's Foundation as a way to allow anyone in San Antonio with physical disabilities the opportunity to enjoy the game of soccer. You can read more about the foundation at www.IansFoundation.org.
Ian’s Foundation will be offering an annual spring soccer clinic for the San Antonio youth as one of their major fundraisers for the Ian's Cup scholarship fund (formerly known as The Fincke Cup). The clinic will be held on Sunday, February 28th at the Mays YMCA from 2-4PM (with registration from 1:30-2:00). The cost of the clinic is $30 if pre-registered and $35 the day of the clinic. It will include a 2hr clinic as well as a 2016 Ian's Cup t-shirt (while supplies last). The deadline for t-shirt pre-orders and pre-registration for the soccer clinic to ensure a 2016 Ian's Cup t-shirt is Monday, February 15th but pre-registration for the clinic will remain open through Saturday, February 27th at 6PM. Trainers will include local high school coaches, club trainers and high school soccer players from Johnson and Reagan, as they must volunteer at one of the foundation's community service events to be eligible for a scholarship.
