On Tuesday, November 19, teachers and staff from around the state will be participating in the Red For Ed Action Day at the Indiana Statehouse. In support of this event, the MSD of Warren Township Board of Education approved the recommendation to cancel school on this day. As a part of this process, they also approved the use of our flex day on Friday, May 22, 2020 as the make-up day. We are letting you know these dates so that our families can make appropriate plans for childcare, etc. The district will be providing lunch to all MSD Warren Twp. students at no charge at our 3 intermediate middle schools (Raymond Park Intermediate, Stonybrook Intermediate and Creston Intermediate) from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. on that day. Your child should have received a letter from our Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Hanson explaining this decision. We are inviting all families and community members to join us at Hawthorne Elementary School on Thursday, Nov. 14th for a Town Hall Meeting. In this meeting we will discuss Warren's Journey of a Graduate. The goal is to gain the perspectives of families and community members on where Warren is heading and how Warren might better serve the eastside of Indianapolis.

Here are some questions we will ask in small groups:

· What makes Warren’s schools unique and successful?

· What’s one area where you think Warren’s schools need to do better?

· In which 1-2 areas of the Journey of a Graduate do you think Warren is most successful? Give examples of what the district does to achieve success in these areas.

· In which 1-2 areas of the Journey of a Graduate do you think Warren needs to change its approach or work harder in order to be successful? Why are we falling short in these areas?

Warren's High Ability Program is designed to meet the unique academic needs of gifted and talented students. The curriculum in these classes is differentiated and faster paced and students will be working above grade level if they qualify. As a district, we look at all students in grades 1, 4, 6 and 8 to see if they qualify for the following school year based on eligibility criteria. Parent recommendations are considered along with achievement scores when determining placement in high ability. More detailed identification information can be found here. Free Dr. Refractions * Free Eyeglasses * Sat. Nov. 9 * 10am - 3pm * Sight to See Eyecare

Sailing 4Sight, a 501 C 3 Public Charity, will be providing free refractions and free eyeglasses to homeless and less fortunate school age children in Warren Township. Parents may contact one of our event coordinators at a phone number listed below to schedule appointment times. We require a reliable phone number from you, as part of your child's registration. a wonderful team of volunteers, along with Dr. Pruitt & staff will perform free refractions for the children. Sailing 4Sight will provide free eyeglasses if needed. If your child needs new eyeglasses, you will be provided with all of the necessary instructions of when and where to return to pick up eyeglasses if needed. Our events can fill up quickly, so please register early. Appointments for refractions are required and set on a first come first serve basis with limited availability.
