The 5th Annual Golden Cash Bash will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the Gene Davis & Sons Banquet & Convention Center. The cost is $80 per ticket and each ticket will admit two people. Tickets are available for purchase in all Columbia School offices. All proceeds from this event go directly to Academic, Art and Athletic Grants that support Columbia School District students. In 2018, over $17,000 was raised to support education in Columbia Schools!

If you donate a small item to the Cash Bash Auction Baskets, it will make a BIG difference in education at Columbia! Did you know that our CES teachers can apply for grants up to $500 for their classroom needs? Thank you for considering donating a small item to be part of the auction. All donations will be accepted for the auction. Below are some ideas:

Debbie Powell is our staff member in the spotlight. Mrs. Powell has worked for Columbia School District since 2005. She is currently an aide in the Kindergarten classrooms. Our Kindergarteners like to call her "Mrs. Debbie!"

This is what Mrs. Debbie had to say about working at CES: "The staff is amazing! I love our Kindergarten Team and everyone in our whole building. I really feel like we are a family all trying to provide the best environment for the students. I also love my hugs from current and former K students :-) It's also rewarding when you're working with a student and see the light bulb go on in their head after they learn something. I also love it when I can share a little animal/biology knowledge with the students because Science Rocks!"

If your child is absent, please call 592-7552 and leave a message including their name and reason for absence. This saves Mrs. Douglas time in the morning because she calls each person who hasn't called in and leaves them a message. Thank you for your help in this matter.

Mrs. Phelps will be visiting classrooms throughout February for class guidance lessons. This month we will focus on friendship & kindness. Students will be exploring bullying and how to treat one another in the classroom and on the playground.

February is about FRIENDSHIP & KINDNESS in the CES Library. Students can write a note to any student at CES, a teacher or any staff member. They can purchase a Valentine pencil ($.50), a Lollipop ($1.00), a Carnation ($2.00) or a CC temperature changing cup filled with a stuffed animal ($3.00). These items will all be delivered to the students and staff members throughout the month of February.

These purple glasses are prescription. Please call 517-592-6632 (CES OFFICE) if they belong to your child.
