Celebrate the Number Two with a “TWOs-Day” | 2s Day | February 22, 2022

Tuesday, February 22, 2022, our campus will celebrate the number TWO so students that would like to participate can dress like twins with another student, they can wear "two" inspired/sounding items such as Tutus, toupee, tunics, two ties, two bows, two pair of socks, two shirts, two twin characters, the possibilities are endless. The NLRSD dress code will be enforced. This once-in-a-lifetime event won't happen TWICE so get 2 planning on how you will represent the # 2.

Dear North Little Rock School District Community, Since we returned from the holiday break, we had to make a number of decisions for the health and safety of our students and staff. We remain focused on being able to provide high-quality teaching and learning while maintaining a safe and healthy environment for our students and staff, which remains our priority. We thank you for your patience and understanding.


We continue to monitor our NLRSD COVID-19 Data Dashboard, which can be found on the website and is updated daily. In fact, based on our trend data of low numbers of positive cases and quarantines, our school district's procedures for stopping the spread of COVID-19 is working. As such, our masking policy, social distancing, hand washing, and other measures will remain in effect.


As a result of our COVID-19 data, we will lift some restrictions, beginning Tuesday, February 1, 2022, which include the following: ● The number of spectators who can attend indoor and outdoor venues may return to facility capacity. Those attending will still have to be screened, social distance as appropriate, and will be required to wear masks. ● Volunteers for PTA and adult-youth mentoring will be allowed onto our campuses, at the discretion of the building principal. These specific volunteers must follow the district’s mask requirement policy and must undergo screening before being allowed on our campuses. Volunteers must have a successful background check in order to enter our buildings. This link allows you to access a form that must be completed and submitted to Ms. Crystal Barker, Parent and Family Engagement Coordinator, by email at barkerc@nlrsd.org.

● Local field trips will be allowed at the discretion of the building principal. Staff will follow district guidelines as it relates to field trips. Participants will be urged to abide by the health guidelines that have proven to be successful on our campuses. Schools will communicate field trips with their respective communities.


At this time, we will continue our policy to not allow visitors in our buildings during school hours. We know that many of our visitors, for instance, like to have lunch with our students, particularly at the elementary level. Eating lunch requires individuals to remove their masks. We will continue to monitor this and will communicate when we believe it is safe enough to allow visitors.


We will continue to follow our COVID-19 guidelines, which are posted on our website and can be viewed here. We stand ready to make adjustments at a moment’s notice if we determine there is a drastic change in the number of positive cases and quarantines. Our top priority is to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff.

A Little Blurb from the NLRMS 7/8 Wellness Committee

Why Water? According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, water doesn’t just help with the daily function of our bodies. Drinking plenty of water can increase our energy levels and improve brain function, making it the perfect power-up for our school day! Middle-school students and adults should drink about 8 cups of water to stay hydrated. Please encourage your students to bring reusable water bottles and be on the lookout for our new water-bottle filling stations!

NLMS 7/8 Campus Celebrates Black History Month

During our 4th-period classes, students will have the opportunity to participate in the Black History Month Door Decorating Contest. Your display will highlight African Americans who are innovators in the fields of medicine, science, and/or technology. The competition is optional but is HIGHLY encouraged. Students may bring items from their homes or the store to enhance the door they are working on.

NLRMS 7th-grade students Present to the NLRSD School Board

Ms. Telisha Brown and four of her seventh-grade students -- Elanor Scott, Payton Shephard, Stacy Stark, and Aiyani Woods -- presented the project they've worked on in science to the NLR Board of Education. The classes have developed models to showcase the five-phase changes and how molecules move when the changes happen. Great job!

At this time we have obtained our strengths and our weaknesses going into what would be the conclusion of a school year. NOW! We have to rechannel our energy towards what we need knowledge of and what we want to accomplish. Think of how and what it would be like if we reach the finish line at 100 miles per hour. Take the time to make sure things are going well and in the right direction that will give us a heads up on the continuous success. These thoughts and mindsets will create a gateway that will assure that our current and upcoming goals are not only recognized but accomplished during this race we call education.

Chromebooks and Chargers

We are seeing far too many broken or damaged Chromebooks. Parents and Guardians, please make sure your child is properly caring for their device when they are away from school. If your child loses his or her Chromebook charger then they will need to pay the $25.00 replacement fee to purchase a new charger.
