The winter breeze is blowing full steam ahead, as we usher in the winter season. It’s amazing how fast the semester has come to a close. I hope that your Thanksgiving vacation was a time of rest, relaxation, and reflection. On a personal note I am grateful for so many things, but chief among them is the supportive Toney Family. I am truly thankful to work with a diligent and dedicated faculty and staff. I am also thankful to be able to work with wonderful students and families.
Parents, we had a wonderful month of November here at Toney. I would like to thank parents and families for attending our Thanksgiving Luncheon. A special shout out to all of the faculty and staff members who made our luncheon a success. I’d also like to express my sincere gratitude to the cafeteria staff. They served a delicious meal that we will not soon forget.
December means another month of exciting activities here at Toney. This month we will have our school wide Spelling Bee competition. Each homeroom class will have a competition and the top two winners from each class will compete for the grade level spelling bee winner. This event will be very exciting so please come out and support our student’s competition. Please see the announcements section on the back of the newsletter for times and dates for the grade level spelling bee. Please make plans to attend our Winter Holiday PTA Program, Thursday, December 15th. We know that you will want to be here, and we look forward to seeing you at the program.
I know everyone is excited about the approaching holidays; however, we must continue the process of teaching and learning each day until the end of the semester. Please be mindful that our students must continue to work hard to complete all assignments at home and at school. Parents, please assist us by reviewing the information in your child’s agenda regarding homework assignments, class assignments, tests, and special projects. Always inquire about your child’s daily activities at school, and ask what assignments were completed in class. This will spark a conversation that leads to homework assignments.
Please don't forget there will be NO SCHOOL for students Thursday, December 22, 2016 through Wednesday, January 4, 2017 in celebration of the Winter Holidays. Students should return to school, Thursday, January 5, 2017 to begin the second semester. I hope that each family represented at enjoys a safe Holiday Season and a joyous New Year. I look forward to seeing each one of you on Thursday, January 5, 2017 when we will renew our commitment to the Toney Elementary School's mission:
