A Message from our Principal!
Greetings Braves Family,
Can you believe the school year is 75% complete? On May 22nd and 23rd, we will highlight our students' academic success during our awards assemblies. We will celebrate our underclassmen on May 22nd at 7:00 p.m. and have our Senior's award assembly on May 23rd at 10:00 a.m.
I pray you had an opportunity to rest, relax and rejuvenate over spring break as we finish strong the 2022-2023 school year. As we get closer to the end of the school year, please review pertinent information regarding the SOL asynchronous testing days.
Take care,
Naomi Dunbar

Attendance Requirements Reminder
Students who are absent more than ten percent of the designated school days run the risk of not receiving credit for the classes, even if they pass them academically. For example, a student that has been enrolled since the first day of school and is absent for ten or more days is considered a chronically absent student. These students and their families will have to complete an attendance waiver request form, which will be shared closer to the end of the semester.
Congratulations, Glory Buyrn!

Chesapeake Public Schools Revised 2.0 GPA Policy for Athletic Eligibility for 2022-2023
The 2.0 requirement for student-athlete eligibility has been revised for the first semester of the 2022-2023 school year. A student-athlete who does not meet the current 2.0 GPA requirement will be allowed to use their one-time probation period during the first semester of the school year 2022-2023 if he/she established a 2.0 GPA at any time during their 8th-11th grade school years. In order for a student-athlete to use their one-time probation period the following criteria must be met:
Student-athlete must be VHSL eligible as determined by the school
Schools must determine which semester the student-athlete established a 2.0
Schools must submit all supporting documentation to the Office of Student Activities
The Office of Student Activities will review documents to determine eligibility
If approved by the Office of Student Activities, the student-athlete will be permitted to use their one-time probation period during the fall semester of the school year 2022-2023 under the following conditions:
Schools must communicate with the student-athlete and parent(s) in writing that he/she is using their one-time probationary period
Schools must also communicate with the student-athlete and parent(s) in writing that he/she will not have another probation period during their high school career.
Student-athlete must attend mandatory study hall during the sports season
Schools must maintain a list of student-athletes who use their probation period under this provision
