Director's Thoughts... 💭
Welcome Back - Committing to the Exciting Year Ahead!!!
Greetings and Salutations,
My name is Edward Hudson, Jr., and I have the esteemed pleasure to serve Edmond Public Schools as the new Director of Fine Arts. My role allows me to assist the fine art programs in the district and advocate and support the needs for its students, teachers, and community. The following are the subject areas that I support from 29 schools and 104 educators:
- Elementary Music
- Elementary Art
- Secondary Band
- Secondary Choir
- Secondary Orchestra
- Secondary Drama
- Secondary Visual Art
- Secondary Speech & Debate
- Secondary Media Arts
It has been a pleasure thus far getting a chance to meet everyone and establish relationships with students, teachers, and administrators at every grade level. My vision and goal for this position include promoting visibility to our community of the great things that are happening with our fine arts programs, increased communication with the stakeholders of our district, and assist in providing accountability for our programs to support continued success.
At Convocation, Dr. Grunewald challenged each of us to "Commit" this school year to the things in our lives that we want to see succeed. I commit to - BELIEVE!!!
- I BELIEVE in Hope, Belonging, Collaboration, and Integrity.
- I BELIEVE we have the BEST educators in the field of education.
- I BELIEVE that we set the standard of excellence in the state of Oklahoma for Fine Arts.
- I BELIEVE that the best is yet to come.
- I BELIEVE in Edmond Public Schools.
I look forward to being a resource for each of you and partnering to continue the great things that are happening in our great district. The arts ARE alive, and well, in Edmond Public Schools!!!

Elementary Art Expansion - "Get Your Cray-on"🖍️
Edmond Public Schools is extremely excited to be able to expand Visual Art to ALL grades at the elementary level starting this year. Prior to this expansion, art was provided exclusively at the 5th grade level, and to 3rd and 4th grade through our partnership with the Edmond Fine Arts Institute. Working together, we were able to find a solution that now provides art to ALL K-5 students in our district!!! This is a huge victory for arts education that will truly benefit the enrichment and well being of our children. I have already begun to receive testimonials of the impact K-5 art is having in our schools.
- Thank you for your advocacy to get art in our elementary schools. My 8-year-old daughter is in EPS. She has always been a visual artist, and I have never seen her as happy about school as when she had art class for the first time this year. It radiated from her that she finally felt seen and fully included in a Specials class. The things we are implementing in our district matter and have a great impact. Thank you! - Parent of an EPS Elementary Student
Edmond Bands Raise Funds at the Annual "Battle of the Bands" Car Wash
This past weekend, all three high schools engaged in a friendly competition for bragging rights as the Battle of the Bands Car Wash Champion. Edmond Memorial 🥇won this year's competition by raising nearly $8,500 for their program. Thank you to all the students, parents, and community members for your support. As well as a BIG - THANK YOU - to Edmond Furniture Gallery for hosting the event.

Oklahoma Arts Council
Oklahoma Arts Council grants ensure individuals statewide have access to the arts. Much of the agency's budget is invested directly into Oklahoma communities in the form of grants, and more than 40 percent of the agency's grant funding supports arts and arts education programming in rural areas. Communities throughout the state benefit from Oklahoma Arts Council grants.
