MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Happy September SIS families!

It is amazing to think that it is already September, and that we've reached the end of our first week in this very unusual school year! There are truly no words to express the gratitude and pride I feel toward the efforts made by every staff member in the building this week. I thank them for the time spent reflecting and adjusting to student needs and safety procedures. This week was a success because of each and everyone of them (i.e. teachers, custodians, lunch staff, associates, secretary, bus drivers, etc).

I also want to thank our students for their bravery and flexibility this week! SIS students are super stars and approached this week with such optimism. We are so proud of them!

Remember that we are always stronger together!

MASK BREAKS

Breaks are implemented throughout the day for students to be able to safely remove their face covering while social distancing. Many of our classrooms have taken advantage of the wonderful weather, and have spent several lessons outside on the grassy areas.

Students are also provided breaks during lunch and outside at recess. We continue to practice social distancing when these breaks occur. We have also been able to modify our lunch routine and table space to accommodate more seat distance between students.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the measures taken in the classroom during a mask break, please reach out to the classroom teacher, myself, or Mr. Woods. We would be happy to talk through any questions or concerns you may have throughout the year.

TEAM BUILDING WITH A TWIST

Smaller groups, face coverings, and sanitizing procedures didn't stop students from enjoying a modified team building activity this week!

PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT - DONATION REQUEST

As part of our mitigation strategies, we have created separate recess areas for each cohort. We have also set bins in each of the designated areas to provide each group recess equipment options. The equipment is only used by specific cohorts and sanitized frequently. To help further these efforts, we would like to be able to create recess bins for each class. We would also like to fill each bin with a variety of equipment so that each class has plenty of choices.

Any of the following items would be greatly appreciated. If donating, you may drop off your items in the bin outside of the front door of the building.
