A Note from Mrs. Lake & Mrs. Gross
Hello Grassy Creek Families!
This past month one of our students was the inaugural winner of the CPEF Women In History Contest for grades PK-2. Mallory Fields, first grader, won a $125 gift card and was also acknowledged at the April School Board Meeting. Charlie DeRosa, fifth grader, represented GCES at the Johnson County Spelling Bee. It is great to see our students shine outside of the classroom!
May will be a busy month for us. All grade levels will be taking field trips this month. For many of our students, this is their first field trip ever due to canceling them during the pandemic. We appreciate your support in funding the trips and being willing to volunteer as chaperones. If you have any questions about the field trip your child is taking, please contact your child's homeroom teacher.
Grassy Creek is in the middle of a new lighting project. This is great for us because teachers will be able to dim and filter the lights differently in their classrooms. Unfortunately, we won't be able to host lunch visitors during the month of May due to the LGI being used for classroom space while the electricians are in classrooms. Other opportunities for you to visit this month are field day and awards day. Times and information for these events are listed further down in this newsletter.
Please make sure to register your child to attend school for the 2023-2024 school year. This helps us plan appropriately with the number of staff we hire and with curricular orders. Registration needs to occur annually for all students in Clark-Pleasant schools. Here is the link to information about registering.
Our PTO is hosting an information and planning meeting on May 16th at 6:00 p.m. Please consider attending and volunteering for PTO next year.
Have a wonderful May!

Car Rider Information & Reminders
To improve traffic flow during arrival and dismissal at GCES, we would like families of GCES students to enter school grounds off of Worthsville Road onto Palmore Way (first entrance to CPMS.) Then take your first left before the tennis courts (turn left/west). Continue on the access road to the end of the sidewalk on the north side adjacent to door 8.. Staff members will walk out door 8 to welcome students into the building at 8:50. We will no longer use the front of the building for drop off. Cars should continue on straight to exit the lot.
Clark-Pleasant Early Learning Center is a part of GCES, and their arrival time is 8:45. These families will enter off Sheek Road and line up fro drop off in the front of the building.
If students arrive after 9:05 a.m., an adult will need to park and sign their student in at the front office.
Car rider families should enter the same way for afternoon car rider pick up, but stop at the corner that leads to the front drive. A staff member will come out at approximately 3:50 to dismiss students. Students will exit out of door 4. Cars should pull up to the flag pole once dismissal begins.

ATTENTION: Parents of students that go to after school daycare!
If your student attends a daycare that is within our GCES boundary, you will need to complete an "alternate bus stop" form in order for your child to be dropped off at the correct stop. You can access that form here or contact our transportation office at 317-535-7255.
