Message from the Principal
Dear Woodside Families:
All students have no school on Monday, January 31st, and all staff will participate in district-wide professional development. Please look for an email from SUHSD on 1/31 asking for your input in the annual Panorama Survey--your input provides us with helpful information about serving our students and families even better.
Last Saturday, January 22nd, we welcomed over 200 future Wildcats and their families during our annual Campus Tour led by student leaders and parent volunteers. Please join me in thanking parent Naomi Hiller Reynolds who helped organize a fun and successful tour which featured stops that highlighted the 4 As: Academics, Activities, the Arts and Athletics. Our student led tours provided prospective Wildcats of the Class of 2026 a taste of the diverse course offerings, clubs and extracurriculars, along with a look inside state of the art facilities and professional grade equipment that Woodside students experience during their four years. Many thanks to all the volunteers and our faculty for providing many future students and parents a comprehensive tour and helping them feel excited and welcome before they officially arrive next August!
The month of January has been eventful! I applaud all of our students, staff and families for working through the health and safety protocols and doing your best to return to teaching and learning with consistency and demonstrating grace and understanding as we learn to live and thrive in the midst of the uptick in Covid cases. Daily attendance has steadily increased and I appreciate everyone's efforts in following health and safety protocols.
In the next few weeks, I will be sharing proposed bell schedules effective the 2022-23 school year that adhere to a new California law (Senate Bill 328) addressing concerns about the effects of sleep deprivation of students. High schools must start the regular school day no earlier than 8:30AM. We can still offer a few classes before 8:30, but we must meet all of our required instructional minutes 8:30AM and after. Our Bell Schedule Committee has been gathering input and will be asking for your input on deciding on an updated bell schedule that will meet the requirements of the new law.
While there is no school on Monday, many winter sports teams have games or practices and Spring Sports begin tryouts and conditioning on Monday afternoon. I encourage every student to consider trying out for one of the nine spring season sports. Evidence shows students who participate in a school-sponsored program enjoy a deeper sense of Belonging. See below for all the times and practice locations.
Spring Sports First Day Practice Information:
- Swim - January 31 - 3:30 pm at the pool
- Baseball - January 31 - 3:30 pm at the baseball field
- Softball - January 31 - 3:30 pm at the softball field
- Boys Tennis - January 31 - 3:30 at the tennis courts.
- Girls Lacrosse - January 31 - 5:30 pm on the JV grass field

Happy Lunar New Year - Year of the Tiger!
