Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week (PFEW) is accepting applications!

PA Free Enterprise Week is a hands-on summer opportunity providing participants with knowledge and skills to compete in the 21st Century workforce. Business leaders from around the commonwealth participate and advise students as they run their own businesses.

PFEW is a unique leadership opportunity for all students, not only those interested in business. There is a low cost registration fee ($295) for this week long learning experience and stay on a college campus.

This incredible opportunity is open to current sophomores and juniors only. For more information and to apply online, check out the website. Stop by the high school Career Center with questions or to sign up for the information session on Feb. 4.

Do you ever think about who designs, constructs and maintains the cool water park you went to this summer or your neighbor's backyard pool and spa? Fifth and sixth graders learned about the industry from Hasbrouck Pool and Spa owners Jeremy and Deanna Hasbrouck. Students had the opportunity to compete in a pool design contest. Take a look at some of their designs. The winner received four tickets to a Philadelphia Flyers Game with the Spa and Pool Board.

Mr. Mayan, Arcola Technology Education teacher, is once again leading the the What's So Cool About Manufacturing program. Arcola students will be touring Globus Medical in Audubon to learn what's so cool about manufacturing. After their tour, they will interview and film the staff about the amazing things they do at this company. Stay tuned for upcoming news about this video competition where you will learn what's so cool about manufacturing at Globus!

High School Counselors visited classrooms the week of Dec. 16th to present a PSAT score overview presentation to sophomores and juniors. Students received paper copies of their score report. Counselors walked students through the online portal teaching them to access their scores and showing them helpful tools for college and career planning. The PowerPoint is available on the school counseling homepage. you will find it on the left side titled PSAT 2019 Results Overview PowerPoint.

Don't forget there will be a parent night to go over PSAT results and talk about post-secondary planning on February 12, 2020 at 7:00 pm. Register in advance through the online high school calendar.

Show Me the Money, Success without a College Degree will be presented at North Penn High School on February 10th. Panelists will be featured from the manufacturing, construction, and automotive industries, and will highlight the current job market, skills needed and projected earnings in these careers. This program will inform participants of viable options often overlooked by students and families. Skills training programs will also provide information on the many opportunities offered post-graduation.

The program begins at 6:30 pm with time to meet with the employers and learn about local training programs. The panel presentation begins at 7:00 pm. Methacton parents and students welcome! Register here. Students welcome!

Methacton high school teachers have completed their first session of Teacher in the Workplace through the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit. Seven teachers are visiting either the Health and Human Services, Construction, Manufacturing, or Hospitality and Tourism workplace. This is the first of five days where they will be learning about workforce needs and opportunities that they can share with their students. Pictured are Mrs. Kernan and Mrs. Brislin.
