WST Weekly UpdateApril 30, 2021

Director's Message

WST progress reports go out this coming week. As the weather gets better, it seems we all get a little bit antsy and want to be outside in the beautiful weather rather than being at work or in school. It is so important that students finish the year off strong, show up for class during their assigned times, and complete any online work to supplement the in-class learning.

One of the greatest indicators of student success in school is having caring adults that check in with students and support students in developing their time management skills. Instructors are working diligently to ensure that every student is getting the support necessary to be successful, but your student needs your support too! You should have full access to student grades in the Skyward system for WST to check in on grades and to ask students about upcoming assignments and projects. Every student will receive a progress report, please check in with your student to see how they are doing in class and where we can work together to ensure a strong finish to the year.

WST & Olympic College Annual Beauty Show

Covid has changed how we do so many things at WST, including our annual WST & Olympic College Annual Beauty Show. This year's event was presented via Zoom, rather than being on stage. New this year - the audience selected the final winners, based on the four selected by the judges. It was so fun to be at home and select the winner and feel like we were a part of the show!

Students rose to the challenge of a virtual show and developed their concept theme board based on one of the three themes this year (Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water, Fantasy/Avant Garde Makeup, and Fantasy). Then, students taking their concept boards, curated their model's look. Students then took before and after photos of their model.

We are SO proud of the dedication and work students put into their model looks and designs. So many incredible looks came out of the beauty show this year!
