FROM PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents,
Welcome to Term Two! This week we had Ben and Breanna from Year Six represent our school at the Shepparton ANZAC Service at the Cenotaph, I wanted to start this newsletter piece by saying thank you to them. The wreath-laying ceremony makes me think about Anzac Day and its legacy every year. At Bourchier Street Primary School, we work to instil respect, learning and contribution in our students. Understanding and remembering the sacrifices and achievements of our servicemen and women helps us do this.
One individual who embodied the Anzac spirit was our school's namesake, Sir Murray Bourchier, a decorated World War I soldier and a Distinguished Service Order recipient. Despite facing numerous challenges and hardships, Sir Murray remained steadfast in serving his country and making a difference.
At our school, we follow Sir Murray's example by encouraging our students to pursue excellence in all they do, even in the face of adversity. Every child has the potential to make a positive impact on their community and beyond, and we strive to help them discover and develop their unique talents.
As we remember the sacrifice and courage of the Anzac soldiers, we reflect on the importance of working together as a community. Just as the Anzacs relied on each other for support and strength, we also rely on our parents' and families' support and involvement. If anyone in the community wants to know how to get more involved in the school, please don’t hesitate to reach out! Working together can create a nurturing and inspiring environment that empowers our students to reach their full potential.
So, let us continue to honour the Anzac legacy and follow in the footsteps of great individuals like Sir Murray Bourchier. We are proud to be part of such a resilient and determined community, and we are excited to see what our students will achieve this term.
Lest we forget.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
Fun Run - Tomorrow
We will be holding the School Fun Run tomorrow - FRIDAY 28th APRIL!
Parents welcome down at Victoria Park Lake from 1pm to 2.30pm
Make sure you've created your student profile page: schoolfunrun.com.au
Students who raise just $10 will be able to choose a prize!
Because the students have raised over $10,000 ($12,200 to date) they thought it was awesome watching Mr. McMullan get slimed! If the amount goes over $15,000, 3 more teachers will be slimed on 5th May and the students have a vote of who it will be!
Year 5 Angahook Camp -By Eva Watson
Everything was wet. The sheets of rain came down harder, then softer. I don’t think I noticed and neither did my friends. Even though the wood was damp, my friends and I still did it. The low ropes took so much work, but I loved it. We could do anything! This place was absolutely perfect, the best camp I’ve been on, anyway.
I looked as far as I could. The waves were bigger down there. It began to rain. I stood on my surfboard, and fell almost instantly.
“Woahhh.” I felt a bit dizzy. That seawater sure was gross! A giant wave came over my head, probably the biggest one of the day. I swallowed more seawater, but I felt so free.
The harness was awfully tight. The boys complained about wedgies and I laughed. 18 whole meters, and we got two goes! I went the full way both times. This giant swing sure was impressive. I looked down at the rest of my group, pulling the rope to let me up. At the end, Hope and Nat went on it too. For Hope’s swing, she got let down earlier than she expected. We all fell over. I twisted my ankle, but wasn’t upset for too long.
I stared up. The wall was 10 meters high, and I almost fell off, but caught myself at the last second. It wasn’t too hard, just scary. Very scary. The rocks didn’t seem to be in the right places and I shrieked! I quickly grabbed a rock to prevent me from falling. I sighed and kept climbing. Top speed.
I gripped on to the rope with one hand, and smashed the button with the other. These rock walls were so weird and cool! I ran through the park course as quickly as possible. It wasn’t too tricky, thank god!
Dodgeball with my friends and teacher, how great! I was high in the air, before gracefully abseiling; down, down, down. I quickly jumped on the trampoline and flipped.
Bounce Inc was so big! I smiled.
