Good Morning OES families!
Students celebrated the 100th day of school on Wednesday! They created and wore fashionable hats, necklaces, vest, and paper glasses for a parade throughout the building. We even have a caterpillar with 100 legs in the trophy case this week! (See images below)
I neglected to mention last week that the 3rd & 4th graders visited the Nulhegan Cultural and Educational Center in Holland. They participated in multiple activities focusing on the Abenaki culture. Mrs. Currier and Ms. Goodwin held an evening event in which the students shared their Abenaki slideshows. Participants were also offered cookies (made by the students) and a beverage. Students were very excited to share their learning! (See images below)
This week at OES the 8th graders will take the NAEP test on Tuesday morning. The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) provides important information about student achievement and learning experiences in various subjects. Also known as the Nation's Report Card, NAEP has provided meaningful results to improve education policy and practice since 1969.
Beginning on Monday, our school will be tested for PCB's. This should not impact the daily routines in the building. Your child should have brought home a letter with more information about these test last week. I am also including a copy of the letter in this newsletter.
8th Grade Families - a separate email is being sent to you with information pertinent only to 8th graders.
We are scheduled to have winter sports on Friday. Let's hope for some snow for our skiers and snowboarders!
As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
