Parent Academy: Parent and Caregiver Retreat 2023!
We had an awesome first annual Parent and Caregiver Retreat on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at the Fairfield Inn and Suites. This was an opportunity for parents/caregivers to connect with one another as well as with administration and community partners! We are excited to redesign our parent/caregiver involvement in a deeper way! Please keep your eye out for volunteer opportunities and engagement meetings, we would love for you to join us! Adult PBIS points awarded for participation!
Parent Academy is a framework to equip parents/guardians with valuable resources and skills to effectively support their “whole child”/ “whole family”.
There will be a variety of engagement activities and workshops to support parents and caregivers to become full partners in their scholar’s education.
Additionally, there will be empowerment opportunities for parents/caregivers to pursue lifelong learning goals through personal and professional development.
New This Year!
In an effort to communicate your child’s attendance (absences and tardies), on a quarterly basis, attendance letters will be mailed to families that have missed at least 5 days and/or 5 tardies per quarter. School begins at 8:00 AM and dismisses at 3:28 PM, unless otherwise noted on our annual school calendar. It is important that your son/daughter attend school daily, for the full day.
Thank you for your continued partnership with us to provide the best academic opportunities for your IAF scholar!
Attendance Flow Chart
Missing school adds up and adversely affects a scholar’s academic performance. This is a reminder of the Attendance process for the 2023-2024 school year. The Family and Community Engagement (FACE) team is here to support if you and your family are experiencing challenges or barriers to attending school regularly.

As Winter Approaches…..
- Bundle Up! Make sure your IAF scholar wears a proper fitting coat that zips or buttons closed.
- Cover Head, Hands and Feet! A limited supply of free hats, gloves and socks are available in the Community Closet. Please contact Mrs. Twitty at (810) 600-5274 or rtwitty@iafphoenix.org or Ms. Donald at (810) 600-5214 or jdonald@iafphoenix.org.
Attendance Hotline
Please notify the school of your child’s absence by calling the Attendance Hotline at (810) 600-5249 EACH DAY FOR AN ABSENCE UNLESS IT IS KNOWN THAT STUDENT WILL BE OUT FOR SEVERAL DAYS. PLEASE INDICATE THIS WHEN YOU LEAVE A MESSAGE. You will not receive a return call unless requested. It is our goal to reconcile attendance messages each day. Please do not leave homework requests on the attendance hotline. Please call the main office for assistance at (810) 600-5000.
Phoenix Adult Resource Center (PARC)
Adult Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS)
Have you heard the news? IAF now has PBIS for adults! What is this and what does it mean? This is an opportunity for our IAF parents/guardians/caregivers to earn points for attending parent meetings, workshops, special events and a host of other activities. Look for the total number of points to be earned on our flyers. Scan the QR Code posted during the event to earn points. Points can be redeemed for household items in PARC.
McKinney-Vento/Homeless Support Available
If you are currently homeless, temporarily living with a family member or friend or staying at a hotel or shelter, please contact Mrs. Rosie Twitty at (810) 600-5274 to discuss the McKinney-Vento resources and support available at IAF.

Lunch Cycle Menu
Please Note: Success Begins with Showing Up!
- Breakfast is Served at 7:35 am
- School Day Begins at 8:00 am
- School Day Ends at 3:28 pm
- Early Release Dismissal at 12:30 pm
- New: Late Start begins at 10:00 am & Breakfast starts at 9:30 am
If you are coming into the office to request early dismissal, students will not be released after 3:00. It is too challenging and too disruptive to request the number of students being asked for early dismissal. We understand that transportation reductions are challenging, and we have been consistently working with MTA on this. However, it is a county wide problem unfortunately. Thank you for understanding and your patience in advance.
Change of Address or Phone Numbers?
Parents/Guardians- do you have a phone number/address that needs to be updated with us? We have a form in the office that you can fill out for a quick change. Or you can email either Ms. McKinley in our records department at smckinley@iafphoenix.org. It is extremely important to have the most current contact information for our families on file at all times. Please, be sure to let us know if this changes.
Are you taking advantage of our text messaging service?
Parents/Guardians- Our school utilizes the SchoolMessenger system to deliver auto dialers to our families in case of a school closure, reminders of events, or simply a dress down day, etc.
We would like to start to utilize the texting option as well on SchoolMessenger but we do not currently have that many families signed up for the text alerts.
You can participate in the free service by just sending a text message of "Y" or "YES" to our school's short code number 67587.
You can also opt out of these messages at any time by simply replying to one of our messages with the word "STOP". SchoolMessenger is compliant with the Student Privacy Pledge, so you can rest assured that your information is safe and will never be given or sold to anyone.
