A Note from Mrs. Pitts
This year we are introducing the STAR Assessment as our Universal Screening tool. This tool has been used at RES in the past but was replaced with i-Ready to collect student data. This screener will allow us to analyze our students starting, mid and end points so we can ensure we are providing them with the most comprehensive interventions but also identifying those students who might be ready for that next step in their learning. Below is a video, if you are interested in learning more.
Have an amazing weekend!
Michelle Pitts, Principal

Purposefull People: A Message from Mrs. Arsenault
Social Emotional Learning happens throughout the day, whether it is in Morning or Closing Meeting, during a recess conflict and resolution, or in reading when a student makes a connection to a character that has a similar life challenge.
My role as the School Counselor is to support the students, staff and families in all things social and emotional. Responding to student needs in the moment, problem solving and supporting conflict resolution skills is a constant in all of our worlds.
A large part of our school's social emotional learning efforts this year will be embedded in the introduction of PurposeFull People. This SEL program will encourage our community to focus on character traits that help our students grow as humans and as learners.
Each month, our school community will build on our character trait language with a new highlighted trait. September's trait is RESPECT. The board at the front of the building will have the definition for this trait, as well as the Family Challenge and Staff Challenge for growing this character trait.
The following is the monthly traits we will address, in order:
Respect - Responsibility - Gratitude - Empathy - Perseverance - Honesty - Cooperation - Courage - Creativity
This does NOT mean we are not addressing these traits all the time. We also will reintroduce them every year so they are solidified and more innate by the time our students go off into the big wide world of middle school.
We will introduce this tomorrow at the Celebration Assembly and wanted our families to have some pre-training!

REF: Rye Educational Foundation Needs Help!
The Rye Education Foundation funds unique educational opportunities for Rye students.
In a typical year, the interest earned from its $1 million endowment with the New Hampshire
Charitable Foundation allows REF to grant approximately $40,000 to RES and RJH, which
funds programs requested by teachers, staff and principals. During the 2022/23 school year
REF funded 23 grants for a total of $71,778! REF is looking for Grants Committee volunteers to work with teachers in both Rye schools. On the Grants Committee, volunteers have the opportunity to communicate directly and build relationships with teachers and staff. It is a great way to get involved with our two incredible schools.
To explore some of the grants funded by REF through the years, please check out our website
www.RyeEducationFoundation.org. We also invite any interested parents to join us at this year’s kick-off meeting with the REF Board and Grants Committee on the evening of Monday,
September 18th.
For more information about volunteer opportunities with REF and the meeting
details, email co-chairs Katie Jones and Stephanie Tabit at refgrantscommittee@gmail.com.
Thank you for your interest in the Rye Education Foundation!
