Apply for Summer P-EBT Before the August 28 Deadline!
If your household experienced a reduction in income after June 30, 2021 or did not complete an household application in the 2020-2021 school year, now is the time to complete the household school meal application to determine eligibility for the Summer P-EBT benefit. Submit this form to your school district's child nutrition department before August 28, 2021, to demonstrate eligibility for Summer P-EBT. (English flyer / Spanish flyer)
Summer PEBT provides $375 to supplement a family’s food budget during the covered summer period for families with a EBT benefit card.
Eligible families are encouraged to demonstrate eligibility for a one-time summer Pandemic-Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) benefit by submitting the household school meal application before August 28, 2021. P-EBT for the 2020–2021 school year (August 2020 to June 2021) was for families with children who were certified for free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program and families with children born after Aug. 1, 2014, who receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) food benefits. Eligibility for these benefits has already been established and cannot be updated at this time.
RISD School Board Calls Bond Election
The Royal ISD school board voted to call a $99,500,000 bond election to be held on November 2, 2021. RISD has created a Bond 2021 website to provide a resource to provide about the proposed projects, combat misinformation, allow the community to submit questions, and more!
The action to call the bond was a result of the Royal Community Advisory Committee reaching a unanimous decision to recommend the bond package that includes the following projects:
- New PK-5 Elementary (Location TBD based on growth)
- Replacement Junior High (existing junior high to be re-purposed)
- Renovations: Early Childhood Center, Existing Elementary, STEM Center, and Transportation
The additional facilities and improvements would accommodate the growing student population of Royal ISD. Election Day is set for Tuesday, November 2, and early voting runs from Monday, October 18 through Friday, October, 29. Watch the Royal ISD website and social media for additional news and information.

Scam of the Week: Scammers Continue with Another Facebook Scam
Scammers recently used their own third-party Android applications (apps) to hijack over 10,000 Facebook accounts. If you were to download and open one of these malicious apps, you’d see a familiar feature: the “Continue with Facebook” button. Legitimate apps often integrate with websites like Facebook to make account creation quick and easy. In malicious apps, this type of link often leads to a phony login page designed to steal your login credentials.
This scam is unique because clicking the “Continue with Facebook” button actually opens the official Facebook login page. If you log in to your Facebook account, you’ll give the bad guys far more than your username and password. The malicious apps include an extra bit of code that gathers your account details, location, IP address, and more. Once they hijack your account, the bad guys can use it to generate ad revenue, spread disinformation, or even scam your friends and family.
Follow these tips to stay safe from malicious applications:
- Though this attack targets Android users, the technique could be used on any kind of device, even desktop computers. Always be careful when downloading apps or software, regardless of the device that you are using.
- Before downloading an app, read the reviews and ratings. Look for critical reviews with three stars or less, as these reviews are more likely to be real.
- Only download apps from trusted publishers. Remember, anyone can publish an app on official app stores, including cybercriminals.
